Default LADY LIBERATORS solo book: Could it work? What angle (besides the obvious one)...

...should it have to convince readers that an all-female team would get together to fight injustice or whathave you?

I think that instead of getting caught up in gender politics and plausibility factors, there's a very real fact in all groups: We gravitate towards what's similar to us. I don't see anything implausible about a bunch of ladies getting together and doing some superheroing...it doesn't even have to be a "formal" team.

It could even have a rotating roster, with maybe some "regulars"...

My choice for the first couple of adventures would be

She-Hulk, Spider-Woman, Photon, Namorita, Silverclaw and Thundra

She-Hulk, Sue Strom, Storm, Valkyrie, and Thundra come to mind for me. I wouldn't mind seeing something like this, I'd check it out

I am agnostic about the idea. It would be great to see a comic where underused female characters like Valkyie and Monica Rambeau could get some facetime; and I really enjoyed how Peter David wrote the group in that She-Hulk arc. However, what is the reason that the group is together? Is it an outgrowth of the Madeline Frank Foundation Sue Storm and Jen Walters started; a desire to confront injustice to women around the world, or just a desire to hang out with friends? The group needs a strong raions d'etra and hook, other than just "hey kids, breasts!" No one wants to see a repeat of the marketing fiasco that was Marvel Divas. Plus, it would probably depend to a large degree on who was writing/drawing it.

I want to say no, but mostly because it's a horrible name.

The concept is strong. The group would have an Avengers-level power too. Invisible Woman, She-Hulk, Photon...serious power.

The name sucks deeply, though. Can you say "Patronizing"?

Gail Simone Writing, Frank Cho for art. It'd sell out every month.

Why not just Liberators?

They don't need any special reason. it would be no different then any team.

Cho can't do a monthly. And Simone can't sell out a title. Wonder Woman isn't exactly selling out, is it?

And I don't mind the Lady Liberators title. But I fully embrace many cheesy comic book elements that others seem to hate. I'd love to see a Lady Liberators comic guest starring the classic Luke Cage in all his yellow-shirt-and-tiara-wearing glory.

It's still above cancelation, and she carried Birds of Prey for a number of years as well.

As for a LL book, I think it'd need a big-name cast and a healthy dose of cheescake to make it sell. I'm thinking:

She-Hulk
Black Widow
Storm
Invisible Woman
Spider-Woman
Ms. Marvel

Maybe throw in some lesser knowns like Valkyrie, Hellcat, and Photon.
And with art from Frank Cho.

Marvel Divas was a marketing fiasco? What did I miss?

My line-up would be Spider-Woman, Ms. Marvel, Photon, Silverclaw, She-Hulk, and Jessica Jones.

Again, why not just call them Liberators?

While I have no empirical evidence, it is widely believed that the use of the word "Divas" and the J. Scott Campbell covers might have had the effect of turning away female readers, which couldn't have been Marvel's intention. Like I said, I don't know, but that seems to be the consensus.

I agree. Liberators sounds more modern and dynamic. LL reeks of cheesy 70's pseudo-feminism.

Sounds good. I hope that Risque isn't too busy to join the team this time.
