Default Anybody here watch The Big Bang Theory?

I find it a pretty enjoyable show for the most part. It's probably because they have so many nerd/geek references. Tonight's episode had the gang in a comic book shop arguing over Wolverine's bone claws. Later there was a bet with the stakes being a Fantastic Four comic against a Flash comic.

I think the guy playing Sheldon was up for an Emmy or whatever the TV awards are called. He's makes his character so freaking funny it's hard not to like him although you'd want to strangle someone like that character in real life.

I've only seen a few clips here and there. A friend at work has loaned me the first season on DVD and I'm looking forward to it.

I adore that show - I love having my geek ego stroked when I understand the majority of the geek jokes.

Adore Sheldon, Kuthrapalli and Walowitz. Find Leoanrd and Penny boring.

Yes, the actor plays Sheldon got nominated for an Emmy.

I love the geek references as well.

They're not really 100% accurate though.

"I like Green Lantern, but I find it weird that he can be defeated by the color yellow." - kuthrapali
"Only the modern-age Green Lantern is vulnerable to yellow." -sheldon
"Golden Age Green Lantern is vulnerable to wood." -leonard
"Great so I could take them both out with a number 2 pencil." -kuthrapali.

It may be funny, but technically, Modern Age Green Lantern has not been vulnerable to Yellow ever since Kyle debuted post-Emerald Twilight in the mid-90's.

But that's nitpicking.

Technically the newest example is Frank Miller's attempt writing a half decent title (I think it was ASBaR?); he added a scene where Batman made Robin paint everything (including themselves) yellow but from memory that was old school GL any way. It's Frank Miller - I wasn't really paying attention.

I have to (maybe cruelly) admit that one of the best things about the show is hearing the fallout from the people it skewers.

"The show's about these specific characters...."

"Those so-called characters are based upon people like us, and I am offended at being represented in such a disrespectful and arrogant way. I have prepared a spreadsheet of the one hundred and eighteen ways the show has misrepresented science and comics, and this Powerpoint presentation will show the specifics of the show's mathematical errors. Further, as these seventy-two film clips show, we are portrayed as childlike, picky and pedantic. We are not like that at all. Are NOT!"

It depends. I hated the first season as it sounded like a bunch of poeple who had no idea what they were talking about other than Halo were writing the script. Then the second season came along and it became fantastic and turned me into a regular viewer. it's funny that way.

One of my favorite shows. I don't read hardly any current comics, especially DC, which they reference pretty heavily, but they seem to have a ton of details in the episodes when they discuss it.

It found it's footing in the second season and got even better than the first.

I am wondering where they are going to go with the Leonard/Penny thing after last night.

In one of the funny episodes I saw a clip of , the gang go to the LCS to get their weekly books. Its not done in a way to mock us comic fans. Its that these guys have their interests and its part of who they are as fanboys. The hot girl (name I don't know) tags along and soon enough 2 of them start flippin thru the back issue bins.

"Got it , got it , got it , wish I had it , got it ..." they say togethor as they flip. They soon get to the comic of their choice and they both want it.

"I collect every appearance of that character. You know this."

"I need that issue to fill a hole in my collection. You know I collect that series..."

It was sweet and funny as the girl watches. I laughed.

I tend to always forget when and where the show is on in the UK.

It is usually on late at night on E4 (Channel 4's main digital channel) and occasionally Channel 4 itself but I am forever missing episodes of it.

I only watched it at first because Kaley Cuoco was on it. I started getting into the show a bit more after a while but I tend to forget the names of all the characters as I don't see the show terribly often.

I love the geeky parts of the show though and the pedantic nerd arguments are the best part of the show. In fact they may actually be the entire show!
