Default Swine Flu victim didn't have swine flu...

College student who the left has been using as a martyr for health care reform didn't have swine flu.

No, she had viral pneumonia. Clearly, this means the current health care system works.

You have got to be kidding me.

Yeah. I'm not really seeing what the point of the original post was.

i don't know about martyr but how does that change anything?

the point was like many young people she had no insurance and like many uninsured, as well as insured, put off treatment due to costs. and she was a boehner (r) constituent

there are enough cases, people and stories that show just how fucked the current system is.

OMIGOD!!

A woman who didn't have health care put off treatment because she couldn't afford it and died.

Clearly, this means that Obama is an evil socialist who wants us all to get treatment right away and not die. It is an evil plan to create minions, of course.

Much better to not have health care and die because you put off treatment. Go lady! You've been saved from a fate worse than death!

Well it's certainly lucky for her that she died of viral pneumonia instead of swine flu.

I'm sure her family will sleep better as well.

You might make more headway in your crusade if you'd try to have a point.

So she had viral pneumonia and not swine flu; how exactly does that affect any of the ongoing debate over health care?

Actually, Mac. I think it does have an effect. The effect is that, since this young woman died from something that's not the fashionable disease of the week, her case makes the case for reform even stronger.

There are idiots out there who might think: "Well, if she had swine flu, then there wasn't much anyone could do anyway." As a society, we're pretty much conditioned to wait out the flu, since the treatment for any strain - including swine flu (and we're dealing with a serious outbreak of it here) - is generally to go home, drink lots of fluids, and stay in bed. Tamiflu might help, but it's relatively new-ish to flu care and I can honestly say I've never actually known anyone who's taken it, despite knowing plenty of people who've had the flu in the last few years.

But pneumonia? Even morons know you absolutely must have professional medical care to recover from pneumonia and that, if treatment is not delivered promptly for pneumonia, you WILL DIE. This young woman died needlessly. Utterly and completely needlessly.

The fact that she had pneumonia instead of the flu just makes it even worse.

Yeah, this sort of thing only makes sense if Briareos is backing health care reform.

Which he isn't, so I presume he just saw "didn't have swine flu" and thought that was the important bit.

maybe bri is an agent provocateur that freepers always talk about when caught doing or saying something effed up. maybe bri's really a left leaning libtard making sure that the right looks bad every now and then.

anyways, bri, don't mind these people, keep being you. don't ever change
