Default Starrk vs. Ichigo

So with Starrk's apparent death I figured we could use him in rumbles now.

So how does Ichigo do against the primera espada?

For this battle Ichigo is not allowed to go into his new uber-broken hollow form he used to destroy Ulquiorra.

Ichigo does horribly.

Resurreccion Grimmjow managed to mostly stalemate Ichigo and Ulquiorra defeated him with his first Resurreccion form.

The only question is how far Stark needs to go to win here. He probably will be forced to release, but I am not sure if he is gonna need the kamikaze wolves.

I agree with Randy Mandy, Stark could probably take Ichigo out with just his Cero guns.

Starrk's amazingly beam spamming combat strategy kinds of doom Ichigo.

Incidentally, the odds of him being dead are quite low, since we haven't seen his body disintegrate. (And it would be bad storytelling for the #1 to die so fast)

Well given how the last chapter went spoilers:
Aizen might be dismissing them all anyway, that would be sufficiently dickish to suit him, plus most of the rest are already dead anyway
end of spoilers

Yes, I'm aware. But until I see Starrk disintegrating, I hold to the belief that his awesomeness is not yet ended.

Didn't Starrk already completely speedblitz both Ichigo and Kenpachi just by re-kidnapping Orihime?

Pretty much. Add the horrible Beam Spam and Ichigo doesn't have a way to win.

I was following the official release. Thank you very much.

Seriously, people, if something just happened in a manga anime, do *NOT* Assume everyone else is following it in fan translations. The board has a spoiler function.

(I agree, but as an aside...)

I'm just wondering...you thought that the first Espada would survive the manga?

Him being a villain and all, death shouldn't surprise anyone.

Yeah, the sheer firepower Stark can put out is probably too much for Ichigo to handle.

I kinda agree. On principle, I don't consider anyone dead until it's been confirmed.

Still, rereading the chapter I can't shake the feeling of doom. Like that was the tragic ending he was always meant to have. Plus, that was a seriously nasty wound he had.

Aizen does seem to be pretty much done with the Espada, though. And considering the rate they dropped at, they were obviously never meant to last anyway.

I'm hoping Stark and Halibel survive, of course, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if they didn't.

Then again, Kubo seems to have decided to keep Grimmjow alive for some reason, so who knows?

Oops, sorry yeoman.

Notice that we're still not sure if it is 100% certain yet.

Villian in a *shonen* manga. With gives any villian a good one in four or five chance of making a face turn and surviving. And a one in twenty chance of surviving and graduating to big bad of a later arc.

Let's remember that pretty much all shonen manga is ultimately derivative of Dragonball. And how many of the Z-warriors started off as villians? Pretty much all of them save Goku, Goten, Gohan and Trunks. Yamcha, Krillen, Tien, Chaotzu were all rivals early, with some of them having a slight villianous bent. Piccolo was the big bad of Dragonball. And Vegita? Yeah.

Yeah, I agree about the feeling, spoilers:
but I just can't see #1 going down without a Bankai. I think he'll probably turn against Aizen, given that before falling he looks at his back.
end of spoilers

Incidentally, his flashback is pretty meaningful, since it reveals that spoilers:
Starrk already looked human before meeting Aizen, meaning that he removed his mask on his own.
end of spoilers

Fair point.

Anyway, it's not like we know he's dead or anything.
