I already did this on the Batman forum, thought it would be good here too. So with cut and paste, and clever editing:
Lets say that for whatever reason, Marvel lets you plot/write one regular sized Spider-Man comic. It can be in current continuity or its own. It can feature any Spider-Man character and/or villain you want. It can even have a non-Spidey character make an appearance/cameo (in case you want to do a team up or something). You have complete creative freedom. And just for kicks you get to pick the artist too. Now, given the full go ahead to create the Spider-Man comic you want to make, the question is, what story would you tell?

The artist of course, would be Mark Bagley. And the story I'd write would involve Spidey in a big brawl against Doctor Doom. A nice big, fun, summer blockbuster type of story which features Spidey going all out against the Doctor. Doesn't even have to be in regular continuity.

Oh, and if you decide to make something in a bid to undo OMD/BND, please try and make a second, more interesting story as well. Because the OMD/BND hate is old, boring, and this is a 'fun' thread.
![]() Just saying, cause I know someone's thinking it.

Well, one idea I threw out awhile back was to have Flash Thompson become the new Venom, and a heroic one at that. And given the current state he's in now, what with his being a double amputee, you can have a kind of addiction theme introduced in that the symbiote temporarily gives Flash "legs" as well as finally getting the opportunity to be literally just like his idol, Spider-Man which speaks to readers desire to subconsciously emulate their favorite superhero. Throw in Eddie Brock wanting to destroy the symbiote, Mac Gargan, once again the Scorpion, fueled by a desire to get in back, added tension within Peter and Flash's rivalry, Betty Brant's emotional turmoil as she realizes just how much in love she really is with Flash, perhaps further complications when Liz enters the picture as well--just seems like a situation rife with drama.

I'd say Carlo Pagulayan on art. He did the earlier issues for Agents of Atlas, and seems to have a real dynamic grasp on fight scenes.
The story would be a one-shot, of course. Peter looking into new apartments after another fight with Michelle. Finds a want-ad by Aaron Stack, goes to check it out 'cause the rent is free. Walks in on Machine Man battling a horde of evil toasters, and gets a walk-through of the apartment while in the middle of a firefight. Just imagine one scene after a room gets blown out, with Aaron standing there, arm-guns still smoking, and he turns to a Peter covered in dust and debris. "So, yeah, this would be your room."

However, I must ask, would the refrigerator be the evil leader of the toasters?

The fridge would be Aaron's girlfriend, so that they could do a weird kind of robot version of the food scene from 9 1/2 Weeks in front of Peter.

Here's another one: Bobby Carr shows up in New York and begs MJ to come back to him. But MJ refuses, telling him that it's over between them and that it was a mistake to ever get involved with him due to the fact she was rebounding from her relationship with Peter. Carr, who already thinks Peter is a scumbag due to his prior stint as a paparazzi, is jealous that Peter and MJ were once an item and are, supposedly, really good friends, and of course, this makes things awkward for Peter because he realizes MJ was Carr's "mystery girl."
But then Carr is found dead in his New York mansion and MJ is arrested for his murder. Naturally, it becomes a tabloid sensation, complicated by the fact that the prosecutor and the press uncover that MJ was involved with Peter and use that as a basis of motive for her wanting Carr dead. Peter believes MJ is innocent, but the evidence is stacked against her, and he feels powerless to actually help her as he tries to search for the real killer. And as for MJ's defense attorney? Michele Gonzales.

Oh, it wouldn't be a single issue, that's for sure, but rather something that starts off as a running subplot and then culminates into a multi-parter. Plus, it provides another usage for Carlie Cooper since she would be the forensic pathologist on the case, and you could bring up the whole White Rabbit, MGH drug-smuggling angle, along with Carr as an DEA informant, and maybe even Paper Doll trying to kill MJ for revenge in thinking she killed "the man who loved her."

A young boy shows up, with an old photo of Ben Reilly, looking for his dad. Peter then must struggle with; unwanted guardianship, unexpectedly becoming an uncle, and explaining this to Aunt May. Peter must reveal his secret ID to her again. May and JJJ Sr. take responsibility for raising the boy, who has started developing powers of his own...

All of these so far sound awesome, too. There's nothing here so far I wouldn't be interested in reading. I'd love a...well, Spider-Boy, and I'd love Flash to be able to walk again. I'll think of a story I'd make. It'll come to me. |

I would do a story in which Spidey takes on a big heavy hitter such as Doom and involving him starting dating Silver Sable. With Sana on art.
