Default Make an unreadable classic interesting!

With the release of Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, Quirk Books hopes to extend the total WIN that was Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

In honor of finding SS&SM at Barnes and Noble today, I want to hear YOUR ideas on classics that could be spiced up with some extra-textual help.

My contribution - Little Women and Lycanthropes!

Life in sleepy Cambridge, Mass isn't so sleepy anymore, what with the presence of man-eating shapeshifters in the woods. How are Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy to cope with being unprotected women in a world where being eaten is becoming commonplace? Will father return whole from the war? Can John Brooke teach Laurie the secret of the perfect silver bullet when all he wants to do is play music and hang out with girls? Could Beth's failing health be the result of a deadly bite?

Now . . . your turn!

Finnegans Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go
- George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley of Wham! inexplicably wind up in Joyce's impenetrable novel, have an incomprehensible adventure.

The Remembrance of Things Past: Swann's Way of the Sword
- Marcel recalls his violent childhood in Combray and the life of his family's friend, Charles Swann--a society man, a failed artist, a lover of things he cannot ever possess--as he fights ninjas for the love of Odette.

the Odyssey (and the Ecstasy).

Centering on the Greek hero Odysseus and his journey home after the fall of Troy.

It takes Odysseus ten years to reach Ithaca after the ten-year Trojan War, and when he finally get's home, Penelope is GONE..

and he must look into EVERY Brothel in the free world to find his missing wife and son, who have been sold into slavery. Of course, you aren't allowed into a Brothel unless you are willing to partake in the passions within.

The Phenomenology of Will Eisner's The Spirit
- Hegel's seminal work of philosophy adapted and illustrated in the style of master draftsman Will Eisner, featuring The Spirit. A delightful, two-fisted synthesis of unlike things.

Being and Time After Time
- Martin Heidegger begins his search for the meaning of Being but is thrown off track as he must help a time-traveling H.G. Wells stop Jack the Ripper in 1970s San Francisco.

Fishing with John for Godot
- John Lurie continues his quirky Fishing With John television show in play form as he and special guest Tom Waits fish for the rare and elusive Godot on a pier at Coney Island.

Are You There God? What Are You, Dense? Are You Retarded or Something? It's Me, the Goddamn Batman!
- A 12-year-old Bruce Wayne faces various young adult/pre-teen issues.

EDIT:
For the record, I enjoyed all of the books I've cited save for Finnegans Wake, which, like many books, needs more Wham!

Actually, I don't think you could do one of these mash-ups with a book you hadn't enjoyed.

Clearly, Bert would like to go in a different direction, which, since one of the original aims of the Quirk Classics was to make these books more "guy-friendly", would probably work just as well as the various monsters.
