Default An happy life or Immortality!

Will you choose an very happy long life or the tough road of greatness? In the far past military might, and conquests are what greatness are about. And from those accomplishment come immortality from Alexander the Great to Genghis Khan. Now it's more about intellectual achievements. So you are given two choice to take. The first is an very long and happy life. Where you will go thru school, college, get an job and married your soul mate. You have great kids and you become an grandparent. When you pass away you will be surrounded by your love ones and they will remember you. An rich full life. The second path is one of hardship. Where you will have to face many trials of pains and suffering. You will have cancer at an early age of 3 and will die from it by your 21 birthday. Your body will be sickly and in your short life time your only companion will be pain. Everyone else will avoid contact with you as much as possible. You however avoid your brother and sister since they represent the embodiment of good health. They are living the first choice the blessed life you could of had and you know it. Your parents blame themself for your condition. They try comfort you, but only makes it worst. You know what your reality is, that you will never get better only worst. Yet your parents lie to you to convince themself that you will get better. You can take that, but it's their eyes when they look at you that you cannot take. Their eyes fill with pity, despair and digusts. From everyone else you have seen those eyes, but it cuts you to your core when it come from your parents. So you avoid your family. You are however an genius and before you die you will have invented an new system that demolish money and promotes achievements. Save the world from gobal warming. And you will discover an cure for cancer. This won't save you from your cancer since it already too late for you. When you pass away you will do it alone fighting pain until death claim you. Even after death your pain will be so immense that your face will be forever frozen in suffering. However the world will remember you.

Morphine and any other drug will not stop your pain. It's related to your path and will only increase during your lifetime. The only true escape from your pain is death, but you know you must live to reach your 21 birthday in order to achieve your 3 accomplishment.

Which one will you choose and why?

Save millions of lives from cancer and stop global warming?

Worth it. I choose short painful life, because millions of lives >>> one.

Happy life without a doubt.

Immortality is extremely overrated.

I think a happy life, but I can't help feel guilty for not choosing the other one. Despite all the misery it would cause me, it would help the world alot, even though it isn't exactly in my ideal way.

It's not even real immortality, just never being forgotten. I can accept that, so it's happiness for me.

well its not actual immunity, its just being remembered, and helping the world through extreme intellectual achievements, while living a horrible life of pain and loneliness.

Well it isn't "actual" immortality. And really, I'm at a point where I really really don't care about all this being remembered stuff so much as being happy and living fully. Honestly, what makes me consider it is the idea of being able to help these people. Still though, I lean towards happiness still.

Happy Life.

Not out of selfish desire, but the honest belief that the other won't better life for everyone as much as you make it out to be.

Curing cancer, I admit would be quite nice, though I suspect it'll just move other diseases into the forefront. Demolishing money and promoting achievements sounds idealistic, but I really doubt it'll stick for long. Something else will cause class rifts, inefficiency, and conflict. It's human nature.

In the words of Woody Allen: "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work. I want to achieve it by not dying."

Someone always has to go and bring realism into the picture.

It is real immortality as real as you can get in the real world. And the man who save the world save the economic problem, and who invent the cure for cancer saving millions of lifes. You are seal forever in the human race history book. I wouldn't be surpise if some people started to worship you. And yea you will die alone not surround by those you love. Yet when you die you will be mourn by the millions maybe even billions. Beside it's gonna be pretty groovy to have an cure name after you like the GozertheGozarian cancer cure. You can't tell me that isn't sweet.
