Zoro vs. Luffy's Opponents

This is something I've been considering for awhile. Zoro has always been fairly close to Luffy in terms of ability, and especially with the feat of taking Luffy's pain on top of his own. So, what do you think? Which of of Luffy's opponents do you think Zoro could've beaten when he was at the same point in the manga?

If necessarily, assume Zoro's handicaps (injury/fever/fatigue, etc) are off for these scenarios.

1. Buggy (obviously cutting is out, but could Zoro come up with something else?)
2. Captain Kuro
3. Don Krieg
4. Arlong
5. Crocodile (Zoro is spotted blood-covered swords)
6. Enel (Zoro gets special "rubber swords" that are as hard as steel ones)
7. Rob Lucci

Also, how well do you think Zoro would have fared against Marigold and Sandersonia, or against Magellan?

Honestly I thought the final battle with Crocodile was kind of silly, given how he seemed to have forgotten about his sand powers until the very end.

Okay lets see...

1) I seriously have no idea how this would go seeing as Zoro can't cut him.
2) Zoro's win no doubt about it.
3) Zoro can cut through steel which is what Krieg's armor is made of. He wins.
4) Arlong is good, but the current Zoro is way stronger than Luffy was when he beat Arlong. Plus his swords do more damage than Luffy's punches.
5) If he keeps it to close combat he can win, otherwise it is Croc's win.
6) He wouldn't be immune to the lighting Enel can call up from they sky at will.
7) This one can be anyones win really. I withhold judgement.

He would have probably done better against the Snake sisters than Luffy did, since he doesn't rely on a fruit power meaning Haki wouldn't have shocked him so much. Magellan would kick his ass though. The guy is a beast

I blame it on the poison hook. When one wields a weapon in battle, they tend to focus on using it to attack the opponent instead using kicks & other attacks in conjunction with it.

I agree with you there. Crocodile forgot about his "I dehydrate everything" ability, but, oh well, it was still epic.

Well, I'm specifying Zoro as fighting him as we was during that arc. If he hadn't been injured/sick from the run-in with Mihawk or worn out from fighting Hachi, I'd give Zoro very good odds against Arlong in a straight up swordfight.

zoro could easily beat buggy without his swords thanks to a revolutionary new thing called punching

Not really. Buggy can easily avoid Zoro's punches by seperating his body parts, much like he did with Luffy.

As for the first Crocodile vs. Luffy fight, I don't think he forgot his 'I dehydrate everything' power, its more like he didn't consider Luffy a serious enough threat to dignify using it. For someone as beneath him as he believed Luffy to be, the hook was enough to end the Strawhat Captain.

After he came back for round two, however...

1. Buggy - Zoro. Suppose he could just cut him up and throw the pieces far enough away that buggy can't control them.
2. Captain Kuro - Zoro.
3. Don Krieg - Zoro.
4. Arlong - Close. Very close. Inclined to go with Zoro here, as he should be better than Luffy against guys with blades.
5. Crocodile - Croc. Easily. Logia hax.
6. Enel - Enel. Easily. Logia hax, plus Luffy had the advantage of being immune to electroshocks.
7. Rob Lucci - Torn on this one. I'm going to call it a 50-50, with Zoro having a slight advantage (mostly because he's armed).

Despite Zoro's epic damage soak and willpower feats, he just doesn't have the speed to keep up with Lucci once the latter goes Jaguar. Base Luffy was thoroughly outclassed once Lucci did that and Zoro isn't faster than baseline Luffy.
