Oberon vs. The Avatar

Oberon (Gargoyles), the King of the Third Race, squares off against the Avatar (Avatar: The Last Airbender), Master of the four Elements!


Fight 1: Oberon vs. Avatar Roku
Battlefield: Avalon
Facts:
-Roku can access the Avatar State.
-Oberon is at full power.
-Bloodlust on.

Fight 2: Oberon vs. Avatar Aang
Battlefield: Ba Sing Se
Facts:
-Sozin's Comet is flying overhead.
-Aang can only access the Avatar State if he's about to die.
-Oberon is at full power.
-Both are fighting in character.

Aang doesn't have a snowball's chance in Hell, Avatar State or no.

The only way Aang could win is if he learns Metal Bending from Toph. Otherwise, he looses badly.

Even that doesn't work against a full-powered Oberon, if I recall rightly.

Yeah, his weakness to iron was a self-imposed one that he placed on himself in order to be "fair" when he fought against mortals. Without deliberately limiting himself, Aang (and any of his past incarnations) don't stand even a remote chance.

Not so, unless they've retconed things in that new Gargoyles comic. The iron weakness is constant for the entire race. The time that Oberon lowered his power level temporarily was when he fought Goliath and co. on Avalon, but I've never heard anything that suggests the iron weakness is something he came up with himself.

This is true. When trying to destroy the Xanatos building, which was being shielded by an energy field, a giant Oberon grabbed a single Steel Clan gargoyle--one made of iron--and had a lot of his energy drained (he started shrinking).

Iron is Oberon's kryptonite. It's fatal to the Third Race, period.

Energy is energy. While Oberon is a powerhouse, he's not immune to high-caliber attacks. Xanatos's energy pistol stunned him, albeit temporarily. Aang and Roku have shattered entire mountainsides with their bending. So Oberon could easily be floored here if he's not too careful.

However, I completely forgot how Oberon transported Angela and Brooklyn to another dimension. He brought 'em back out of mercy. So yeah, it's a stomp in his favor.

It'd be fun to watch. Especially if Titania persuaded him to go easy on the bald child.

he didnt have his energy drained by the clan robots. they just hurt him a bit. owen's words about energy meant that energy, either produced by magic or science, has its limits. when oberon was shrinking, he was just running out of gas.

@2:56 in Oberon grabs a Steel Clan robot, and clearly has his energy drained by touching it. This caused him to shrink. Of course, it wasn't enough since Oberon stopped shrinking, and continued wreaking havoc.

Meh, he was a petty, spoilt, hypocritical king who just happened to be the most powerful mythical being on Earth. Sure, he sounded noble and didn't necessarily have bad intentions, but once his easily crackable facade of nobility cracked he'd just resort to brute force. The same character without Oberon's powers would have been a thoroughly average villain at best.

but before that, he was already shrinking from pounding on the shield. so he was already at his limit at that point.

Not that Aang could beat him, mind, but steel is clearly a weakness for him.
