Trailer. Wow. This was the movie Ed Wood thought he was making.

Further proof that the film industry is out of ideas and will soon implode on itself.
Why would anyone want to remake a movie that has a cult following not because it was well written (It wasn't), well acted (the acting is awful), well directed (LMAO), or had nifty special effects (ROTFLMAO), but because it is arguably the WORST movie ever made? Trying to turn it in 28 Days Later doesn't help either. We've all seen that movie already.

...except that the end result, going off the trailer, is "zombies rise and kill folk". And everything it shows us has been done many times now.

Because its not "the film industry" (aka "Hollywood") doing it. It's some small-time nutty independent producer.

"Strong? Y'see--Y'see--?! Your stupid minds! Stupid! Stupid!"
Ol' Ed sure could write some dialogue--almost like a Zen Koan... It's not a real movie--it was a phony trailer made for Youtube. |

In my opinion Plan Nine From Outerspace isn't that bad. It does have it's moments of badness but compared to most b-movies of the time it isn't entirely bad. But then again this is also in the fact I've seen a bunch of Something Weird releases of old b-movies that are boring and bad.

Ed Wood's movies have some padding, but he didn't let something looking really stupid or fake prevent him from getting it on film. If the flying saucers were hubcaps, if the cockpit set was a cardboard flat with a shower curtain, if the best Bela Lugosi impersonator you can get doesn't resemble him at all, screw it. We're using it. So the film moves a lot more swiftly than ones where filmmakers actually tried to work within their means. |
