Default The Falcon

Who here would like to see The Falcon get more attention or spotlight from Marvel?

Give him a new mini series.....with a big name creative team.

Let him lead the Avengers.

Have him run SHIELD.

Have him form his own team.

Something. Anything. He's great in Brubakers Captain America but I want to see Sam elsewhere too.

What would you do to promote the character?

I only saw him a few times and wasn't really familiar with him, and then I read Captain America and I kept thinking how I had no idea he was this good. I agree he should get more attention.

It's gonna take a writer taking a serious interest in the character. There are some really good stories out there featuring the Falcon, but some really bad ones too. He still has a long way to go before some people stop seeing him as JUST Captain America's sidekick.

I started buying Cap when it was Cap and the Falcon (and I'm talking way back, not the recent train wreck) so I wouldn't mind seeing that again.

Brubaker has handled the Falcon so well in his run that I'd like to see him continue as a Cap cast member, only with a bigger role. They flirted with the mentor/protege dynamic, especially that issue where JBB realizes he's trying to impress the Falcon on their first mission.

Bucky is still getting his sea legs as a hero, and I'd like Falcon (and, to a different extent, Black Widow) continue to be the voice of wisdom and experience. That said, the Falcon could easily be a type of Widow character, working in different capacities for Fury or whomever, crossing across titles as the ultimate recon spy, while still being to Harlem what Daredevil is to Hell's Kitchen (which has become so fashionable that some realtor is gonna come up with a new name to market).

I like his lone wolf quality, swooping in to team up at key moments. He's a very good character, with a considerable backstory. The last thing I want him to be is the token black hero who stands in the background for diversity's sake.

Use the character to express a strong point of view when heroes gather. He should be the level-headed, common-sense leader, the voice of logic. Kind of an anti-Clint Barton. Of all of Marvel's characters, I consider the Falcon's persona to be most closest to Steve Rogers. His motto should be the Spike Lee masterpiece: "Always do the right thing."

We got a sneak at a panel in New Avengers where Spidey and Barton appear to be arguing about killing Osborn, with Pete taking the "we don't sink to their level" side. Cap in that panel looks indecisive. This is where the Falcon's voice could find a way to make sense of the dilemma in a way all three could get down with.

When Steve comes back and JBB goes back to being the Winter Soldier, on a mission of atonement, I'd like to see the Falcon take on a role of watching the guy, making sure he makes the right decisions, showing up just when he's needed.

Now the Ultimate Sam Wilson/Falcon is a different bird entirely, but his combination of scientific genius AND elite military skills make him one of the coolest Ultimizations ever. Now, having avoided Ultimatum, I don't know if he's alive. The Sam Wilson in Ultimate Nightmare was just too cool for school, and the roundabout way he bonded with Ultimate Cap was very clever (not counting that horrible, retrograde Ultimates Annual, which read like something puked out in the 616 in the mid-60s). Anyone remember the panel where both Steve and Sam are poking fun at Mar-vell because it sounds like he learned English by watching Seinfeld?

Speaking of which, the equally cool Ultimate Capt. Marv-ell--smug yet heroic alien--and supremely confident Sam Wilson (who seems to do his science out in the field, unlike the other Marvel lab rats) would be an awesome teamup. Has anybody touched those two UU characters other than Ellis?

So, yeah, more Falcon. Of course, now that the Disney suits are in charge, the character will probably be turned into some jive-talking pigeon for the direct-to-dvd Lion King Part 9.

have him die. He'll be remembered as a legend because he's Steve's friend..... even though he wasn't.

I'd like a V2 of Cap and Flacon with him and Bucky. They could make it like when Bucky just became Cap and was basically Falcon's sidekick, lol.

This'd be great. Just do a mini or one-shot about everything Wilson was doing from the beginning of Civil War to now. I'd buy that comic.

First reading this topic, I'm like "...wait, didn't Clor kill The Falcon during Civil War?".

I think that's kind of proof the guy needs more attention.

Tell me you're not serious. When Stark's Thor Clone killed Goliath, you thought Goliath was Sam Wilson, aka the Falcon? This frightens me.

The sad part about Falcon is that the Captain America and the Falcon book was his ongoing in a way since cap had his own book at the same time. You know what I think a what if book having Falcon becoming Captain America would be an interesting read

No, not when I was reading Civil War. I know they are two separate characters. I knew Goliath died, and The Falcon was one of the first guys who joined Captain America.

But for a split second first reading the topic, my first thought was "that black super hero guy". Goliath came to mind first. Maybe that's my fault, but I don't have that problem with other heroes.

I'm saying I shouldn't be able to make that mistake.

Give his role in the Civil War, his friendship and work with Cap and his work with Bucky, I'm a bit surprised that Sam isn't a member of the New Avengers. I think he'd fit in really well.
