![]() Wallflower is Laurie Collins. She was a mutant at the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning. Her power was (uncontrolled) emotion control via pheromones. She is the daughter of Dr. Sean Garrison and Gail Collins. Her father, who was a psychiatrist, had the same mutation as her and he used it to manipulate women. (Gail and Sean) However, when Gail (his victim at the time) became pregnant, she gained an immunity to his pheromone abilities. Gail left Sean and raised Laurie on her own. She struggled as a single mother, and could not provide her daughter the attention she deserved. They both became secluded and sad. Laurie did not seek out anyone else, because she could tell that her mother had been hurt before. One summer, when Laurie was thirteen, Gail decided to take her on vacation. That was where her mutant ability manifested. Because it was not controlled, Laurie inadvertently made everyone at the beach fall in love with her. Gail, knowing what had happened, told Laurie about her powers and how she should be careful. Laurie Collins then became even more reclusive, and did not trust anyone's emotions towards her. She eventually was placed in the Xavier Institute, but she still could not find any friends. She may or may not have caused the riot at Xavier's. She continued to fear her powers and shied away from all the other students, until one summer day. Laurie found a friend, Sofia Mantega. From then on, Laurie Collins was a much happier person, eventually befriending fellow students David Alleyne and Kevin Ford. Her life began to turn upwards, until everything fell apart again. She was stabbed by Donald Pierce. Luckily, a Reaver by the name of Josh Foley was able to save her, using his hidden healing powers. Then she fell in love. Through this near-death experience, she found her first love. Josh Foley returned to the Xavier Institute, but did not have any feelings for Laurie. Instead he fell in love with a Scottish werewolf girl, who ripped his guts out. But the young girl saved the life of Josh Foley, and sent the werewolf packing. Josh Foley survived the attack, but still had feelings for that crazy Scottish woman. After the Xavier Institute was destroyed and rebuilt, Laurie Collins was placed in Dani Moonstar's New Mutants Squad alongside Sofia Mantega, David Alleyne, Josh Foley and Noriko Ashida. She was given the codename Wallflower. As a member of the New Mutants she practiced controlling her abilities and taking part in Danger Room exercises. Laurie Collins was featured in an alternate future, which actually was a telepathic vision by her teammate Prodigy. In it she became a writer, and she was stille heartbroken over the loss of her first love. When it was time to attack the White House and defeat the evil President David Alleyne, she took out his secretary, Sage. She still had a crush on Josh Foley, and her feelings towards him would soon be reciprocated. They began dating, much to the chagrin of the Hellion member Kevin Ford (Wither). Kevin had been in love with Laurie since he first saw her, but he was a creep and she wanted nothing to do with him. Kevin decided to be a major bitch and tell everyone about Josh's relationship with Rahne, a teacher. When Laurie found out she was angry and scared Josh Foley away. Her mother tried to nag, but Laurie was not having it. When it came time for the year end dance at the Institute, Laurie used her pheromone powers to make Josh jealous. She forced her date, David Alleyne, to kiss her in front of her ex. This caused everyone to get mad at her, even Hellion thought it was "stone cold". Laurie had another little hissyfit, which ended with her mother leaving in tears. The following day, at the year end festivities, The Blob attacked the school. With the X-Men away, it was up to the students to stop the attack. With the help of the Stepford Cuckoos, Wallflower was able to defeat The Blob. After the attack, Laurie Collins made up with her mother and all was well. Then M-Day happened. In the House of M world, Wallflower was a very different person. She had a very strong bond with her mutant father and rarely saw her human mother. Instead of being shy and scared of her powers, she was a bitch and believed herself to be better than most people. Her best friend and roommate in this universe was a girl who normally hated her, Cessily Kincaid (Mercury). Her enemy was normally her best friend, Sofia Mantega (Wind Dancer). In this universe, she was a spy for the SHIELD along with her father. When telepath Quentin Quire found out about this, she used her powers to make him commit suicide. She continued to be a spy in the New Mutant League, until she was uncovered by her friends. She then decided to make them all try to kill each other. However, Mercury, who was immune to pheromones, stabbed Laurie and killed her. Sadly, her fate in House of M foreshadowed her eventual death in the main universe. After M-Day, Laurie was one of the few who kept her powers. First she was attacked by a deranged Kevin Ford, who partially withered her hand and arm. She was then shot in the head by an even more deranged Matthew Risman. Thus ended the life of Laurie Collins. Wallflower. Rest in peace. SHOCKING UPDATE Laurie Collins recently resurfaced in Astonishing X-Men #31. She appeared to have been transformed into a bio-sentinel. Bio-Sentinel Wallflower might be attacking Emma Frost. Actually, the "bio-sentinel" was not really Laurie Collins. It was just an evil sentinel posing as her. The X-Men killed it. Stay tuned to this thread for more.

I was planning to post a picture of Laurie bleeding from the face, but... Well... That'd be too easy.
Instead, I'll post a picture from the one story arc in which she actually managed to pique my interest.

Laurie was excellent in that story. Dr. Garrison might be my favorite Weir and DeFilippis character.
Great job Prodigy.

Wallflower was my favorite of the new kids. It's too bad about what happened to her.

![]() Laurie was the best dressed at the Spring dance. I loved this arc, but I hated how much she reminded me of her mom. I think the Josh fiasco really changed her, though, and she would grow to be a different person in a new future scenario, were she still alive.
