Default Wonder Woman #34

could not find a thread for this

anyways, I'm just gonna say I liked this issue more than all of Rise of the Olympian, Simone seems to do well in more humorish stories than big epic, but that's just my opinion.

Awesome issue. Lots of fun.

Much more light hearted than the previous few issues.

I love the team up between Wonder woman and Black canary.

I like where this is going.

Good issue needs less Genocide.

Yeah, this was a great issue and it recaptures some of the free spirit from Birds of Prey. I'd actually nominate it for best issue I've read this year.

More stories like this would be great, but looking ahead it looks like grim times will return just as fast with even more conflict in Themyscira from Achilles.

Genocide is one of the weakest villains ever. I know Diana desperately needs her own Lex Luthor or Joker, but her own dead body reanimated isn't it. Even in a great story this concept was just a minor aspect and actually a tool of a truly great villain (Darkseid using dead hero clones in The Great Darkness).

And all we need are The Huntress and Vixen and we've got a Justice League Unlimited reunion here (and don't forget the Dick Grayson non-cameo cameo).

She probably does have her own arch enemy she's just not popular enough of well known compared to Joker or Luthor.

Wonder Woman's Arch Nemesis would probably be Circe, due to the Philosophical Differences...

Diana already has her own arch-rival, it's Cheetah. Cheetah is a literal "Hybrid" of the two biggest archetypes that Diana faces - Myth-based Magical Warriors/Sorcerers or Golden Age Mad Scientists - both of whom are notorious "monster-creators". Cheetah being a mix between the two, a scientist cursed to be a monster by mythic sorcerer forces ... should be depicted as the literal and allegoral "pinnacle" of the sorts of enemies Wonder Woman faces. And her speed and feral behavior SHOULD be used to give her the edge on Diana's years of training and strength. Especially the speed. As lithe and wiry and twisty and claw-using as she is, she should totally be regarded with a higher power-level than she is - not quite on Wonder Woman's level, but at least able to do damage, and with the potential (however slim) of killing Diana.

Second note; Wonder Woman should really have a monopoly on Mad Scientists. It seems appropriate to see her A. Smash genetic behemoths, B. Smash android gladiators, and C. Emasculate nerds who are over-compensating by building huge monsters ... and giving the appropriate send-off "from the gods" to those men who are trying to play god.

Every hero has one or two great Mad Scientist enemies. Wonder Woman should have a whole cabal of them!

This issue rocked. The world of Wonder Woman seen and heard through the filter that is the sassy mouth and outlook of Black Canary reads phenomenally.

I always thought it was Cheetah. Followed shortly by Circe, Giganta, Ares and Dr. Psycho.

Cheetah was definately Wonder Woman's most iconic villain. However, to my knowledge, none of her superpowered foes appeared in her live action series. So she really doesn't have any "iconic" rogues.

Interesting. But it's equally noteworthy that while there's a B:TAS and S:TAS which were a more modernized telling of Bruce and Kal, right after Dianna's portrayal in that old live action series, there is no modern stuff. There is no W:TAS

I think genoside is actually quite brutal and awesome and a cool idea.

My main problem was her design.

But I remember gail saying something about her being in a transitional state. Which to me means the artist might redesign the villain again and this time she might look cooler.

All the spikes and mask done nothing for me.

There's something about a woman who can become twenty feet tall that IS kind of sexy

Bring back Negasonic Teenage Warhead! Because there are more people who want to see her in the X Books than there are who want to see Jean Grey again.
