Default Star Trek vs. Star Wars. Real world impacts

Basically which Scifi has had more and deeper impacts in the real world. For example:

Star Trek: Tri quarter inspired tech like the palm pilot or the Iphone.

Star Wars: There is an official religion called Jedi.

So which has has the most lasting impact on real life.

X-ray machines were in use long before the original series of Star Trek.

That's why we don't.

Trek credits itself with "inspiring" practically every modern invention when really there's no proof of any of it.

Advancements in technology doesn't automatically mean they were inspired by ST or SW.

I'm sure that Jedi religion is a big impact on society since until this m,oment I had never even heard of it.

I think Star Wars has had a broader and larger impact while Star Trek has at times had a slightly more meaningful impact.

Yup and Roddenberry took credit for Star Trek, often rewriting a couple of lines in a script and giving himself co-writer credit. Didn't John Black and Herbert Solow write a book claiming they never received credit for being the actual creators of Star Trek, having made up the Federation and Star Fleet and pretty much the 'bible" or background of Star Trek? A writer made the same claim about "The Wild Wild West". It was common in those days for an executive producer to have a basic idea, commission a writer to make up all the details and then jump in and claim creator credit.

I think I have to agree there. The space shuttle Enterprise for one.

You do realize they were naming things "enterprise" long before Star Trek right?

True there have been dozens of ships named Enterprise, but in this case he's correct.

Construction began on the first orbiter on June 4, 1974.[2] Designated OV-101, it was originally planned to be named Constitution. However, a write-in campaign caused it to be renamed after the Starship Enterprise, featured on the television show Star Trek.[3]
However the ST Enterprise itself was named after the common ship name. It's not necessarily an original ST name.

Tri quarters didn't inspire palm pilots or Iphones, or even plain ol' cell phones. Tri quarters are just radios, and don't work anything like phones.

The only thing I ever heard about the Jedi religion was that some guy apparently got arrested for dressing up as Darth Vader and attacking them during service.

Funny as hell but not significant.

Naw they are hand helds that have a lot of functions and link up to a much larger computer. Not really radios at all.
