Default RIP Barth , Ross Ewich , El Capitano, Snake Eyes, Senator Lance Prevert,.and Les Lyle

For us Kids of the 1980's someone we loved watching is gone. Les Lyle played on You Can't Do That on Television for years. He created so many fun characters and had so many fun moments. He didn't seem to mind being on a kids show or having the kids at times out smart him. Lyle was 84 years old which suprises me .

Funny stuff. Those lunch room options were horrid but laughable.

That was a great show. Just don't say, "I don't...." Nah, I don't want to get slimed on the couch.

Have vague memories of him, back when YCDTOT was broadcast on Nick back in the late 80s/early 90s. Looking back on it now, just really surprised that he was able to play such a variety of characters. Goes to show just how old we're getting. Pretty soon we'll be hearing word of David the Gnome, Clarissa Darling, and Bobby Budnick passing away as well.

I hate to break it to you, but David the Gnome's last episode was about him dying, iirc.

I think he means the actor who voiced him, Tom Bosley (who is still alive), and when that happens, I'll be more upset that Mr C from Happy Days died than that David the Gnome died.

As for Les Lye, he was an amazing character actor, even more amazing when you find out that he was in his 50's when he started doing YCDTOT. It was amazing to me that he could do all those different characters. He truly will be missed.

As a teenager I utterly adored YCDTOTV. It was in many ways rather subversive for a 'children's show', and made absolutely no pretense at being 'educational'. And yes, it wouldn't have been remotely as enjoyable without Lye's multiple characters that he portrayed.

Farewell, Les Lye. See you in that giant slime factory in the sky...
