lol no! Nevermind his past, I wouldn't follow him because of his present, as in naming himself for his dead ex-wife and getting freaky with his grand-daughter.

From what I've seen of the Avengers, a history of mental illness doesn't exactly disqualify you for a leadership position.
See: Captain America, the Wasp.

Absolutely... the man has redeemed himself time and again for his faults. Basically if you do the math, he's probably redeemed himself 4 times over for each of his faults... so he's a good man in my eyes.

A good man, yes.
But, being a leader entails more than that. |

Depends on who I am.
Am I someone who served with him in the WCA? Or am I someone who got attacked by Salvation 1? Or am I some newby that doesnt know any of the private goings on? |

No chance.
But I wouldn't have followed Cap for the past two decades either. |

Why not. He's a genius level intelligence, an experienced hero and a former leader of the Avengers.
Of course, I'd also be smart enough to keep an eye on him to ensure that the pressure of the job wasn't getting to him. Early intervention could prevent another nervous breakdown and the warning signs should be easy to see. |

Why not? because he's been seen as mentally unstable and attacked his own teamates with an ultron

I don't think RIGHT NOW I'd trust him to lead, given his mental history. Jan just died, and he's naming himself after her, while making out with Jocasta... a lot of it just feels wrong.
I'd trust him enough to be on the team. His past earns him that much. But at least right now he shouldn't be in charge. |
