Default Agents of Atlas # 8 (with the Hulk!...and spoilers)

I typed this in response to MichaelChens request..........don't hate on me if it is not a good synopsis! :)

Spoliers on................

Bruce Banner gets shot with a tranquilizer while wandering the desert in Nevada and winds up on an operating table to be dissected by an Atlas outfit (not under Jimmy Woo's control).

Bob uses the Silver Bullet to return the gold stolen from Fort Knox, angering Osborn.

Derek Khanata is shown the Hidden City and hangs out in a hot tub with the gang. Jimmy explains the workings of the Dragons Corridor to Derek before he and the robot split to look for Suwan in a Uranian style suped up flying car, leaving Derek in charge.

Banner Hulks out, sending off alarms and that Derek, Venus, Ken, Temugin and Namora go to answer. This particular Atlas base was using drifters and homeless guys body parts to create some kind of wretched looking monsters.

Jimmy meets up with our favorite lung dragon Mr Lao who explains what has been going on with Suwan in the many years since Jimmy has seen her. Apparently she headed up Atlas business in the east so Master Plan/Yellow Claw could concentrate on the west. Jimmy asks how old she is and Lao tells him that she is perfectly preserved thanks to elixers and shtuff.

After taking a licking from a drugged up and raging Hulk, Temugin proves his worth (a bit) by standing to Hulk (a bit). Once the drugs wear off Venus is able to sooth Hulk with a song.

And the last page Jimmy meets Suwan who is not really happy to see him as he broke some Atlas wall treaty crossing the corridor to find her. She is all sexed up in thigh high boots and a short green dress and calls herself...the Jade Claw.

Plus there is a lot of fun dialogue from Ken as usual.

So once again another wacky issue by Parker and his crew.

It sure was. Not that this book wasn't good from the get go, but it has hit it's stride now I think.

And I mistakenly left out that Suwan and Master Plan had some sort of civil war between their factions, leading (i guess) to the Atlas wall treaty that Jimmy broke. And Jade Claw had her own big ass robot to counter M-11 on the last page splash.

Does anyone know what model car Jimmy is driving?

I don't think I've seen a group of guys who deserved to get their asses kicked this much in a long time. Aside from the evil genetic experiments, if you're dumb enough not to recognize that the drifter you just snatched for said experiments is Bruce freaking Banner, AND you say OUT LOUD that he's just some anonymous guy no one will miss, you've really got it coming.

Great issue and the artist is really starting to grow on me a lot.

I kinda figured Venus would be the one to calm Hulk down but it seems like she does that almost every issue.

And i'm also curious why they returned the gold the snatched and that led them being on the outs with Norman.

Obviously noone expects this group to be the ones to take down Norman(they have to wait in line ) but that sort of changes the whole main story a bit and i'm hoping this will be addressed in later issues.

Woo has nice taste in women

Jimmy was driving a Ford Edsel. of almost bankrupting ford fame,. But it was a great car, just ugly as sin.

This issue seemed like filler to me, and at worst just an excuse to throw the Hulk at the AoA.

'Course, it was so good I didn't care a lick about that anyway. I agree that Parker's really hitting his stride with the ongoing. The idiosyncrasies of each character, coupled with the fusion of humor, mystery, and action makes this comic like nothing else Marvel is putting out. Considering Jade Claw's little friend, I hope we get to learn more about M-11. He's got to be the most interesting non-talking Marvel character ever.

I'd also love to see other Atlas-era survivors eventually, but that's just a small want. Mostly I just want this series to continue kicking ass. Because of Agents of Atlas, along with PAD's brilliance on X-Factor lately, the seeming return of awesome Runaways, and the continued coolness of D-listeres in Avengers: The Initiative, I can almost stand that Captain Britain only has one issue left.

-Pav, who wishes the comics that have been showcasing the Hood left him this excited, as he's one of my faves...

Felt like filler. Would have prefered that they had gotten to the Jade Claw story earlier.

The stuff we DO get about Jade Claw, essentially just enough to tease, leaves my mouth watering! I guess it could be considered a compliment of sorts that I hate filler issues much more in this book than in others because the meaty stuff is so awesome!

Temugin stills feels a bit too weak, but at least he's no longer WTF?? weak. This guy's a high-end powerhouse, not someone you pit against Ronin.

Great issue again - only got around to reading this yesterday as I finally managed to pick up the first AoA mini last week and wanted to give that a good read first! Yay! Answered quite a few of my questions too...

I don't mind filler when it's this much fun.

It doesn't say the book was cancelled.

One question about the issue...did they mention Namora involvement in World War Hulk within the issue ?
