Tim has been in featured in most of the titles we've mentioned, like all of Morrison's work and Face the Face. Teen Titans had some good characterizations of him, well at least at the beginning.

Red Robin was an older Dick Grayson from Kingdom Come, which takes place in the "future".

Later on Jason Todd found the suit while Multi-verse hopping in Countdown to Final Crisis.

At some point, a villain named The General found it, and started wearing it. Tim Drake defeated him and took the costume away.

Then Tim started wearing it after Dick made Damian the new Robin.

Tim Drake is an awesome character too, and I enjoyed most of the entire run of Robin. Also, Face the Face, Identity Crisis, and A Lonely Place of Dying have some good Robin moments.

Like others have said, Tim Drake has been Robin for almost 20 years. That's a lot of reading.

No, and the Red Robin in the story doesn't interact with Tim or the main DCU at all in any subsequent stories. One needn't read Countdown OR Kingdom Come to get why Tim was wearing the Red Robin costume at all, just the last arc of the Robin ongoing and Red Robin.

So I should pick up the last few issues of the Robin comic?

That would be great, but like We've said Face the Face and The Black Glove have great characterizations of Tim and Batman, so why not kill two birds with one stone?
