Even if you don't like the character, didn't enjoy the story, I can't see how anyone can't give Williams his props on the art. He's on a whole another level right now and I don't think anyone at DC is producing anything close this good. It's Williams and then everyone else. Dude better win some awards for this.

JH Williams could draw the phone book and it would look amazing.

Just reading in the interview all the effects that Williams uses makes my head dizzy. I just wonder how the guy will be able to produce 12 monthly issues if he's putting so much care in it.

And yes the argument "I don't care for redheads or for batwomen as the reason why I can't enjoy the art" just shows a lack of aesthetics. In this instance one best keeps one's opinion to oneself.

I'm sure we'll get some fill-ins. Truthfully though, I wouldn't mind a delay of the book if it meant Williams got to do all the issues. It's not like he's on this book for the long-haul anyway.

Wouldn't surprise me if he's got a huge head start on this. I mean, they've been working on it for how long now? That's not to say he's been drawing it for two years, but I'm sure he's a fair way in.

Well last year at SSCC(comic con) they previewed this issue of Tec so I would wager he is well ahead of the game.

The new Detective has really been a pleasant surprise, and this is a good interview. I'd have liked to hear more about the layouts as they were the most interesting thing about the issue to me -- complicated but clean, very different from a standard grid layout but easy to read.

Given the attention paid to Williams's use of reds, I'd have liked to see either interviewer or interviewee acknowledge the influence of Timm, Cooke, et al in the design -- the red bat-insignia first appeared on Batman Beyond.

New post Thad and welcome to CBR.

Stick around and talk some batman. There are plenty of open topics at the moments.

If you want to start any new ones feel free to do so and I will contibute to it if you want.

The new shake-up in the Batman Universe has really invigorated my interest in the titles again, the new character dynamics and possibilities are definitely a breath of fresh air, but the stand-out art out of all the books for me is Detective Comics. Not only does he have a unique style, but his story-telling, acting, layout and everything is spot on. I can't wait for more!

He is a good artist but he didnt fit in with Dini Tec issue of his i read.

I would be interested in reading more of his art works other comics. Didnt he drew an issue of Jonah Hex ? Or was it a different Williams ?

JH's art is incredible, definately the best out of the current Bat-books by far. Gotham Sirens needs a new penciller, NOW.

JH will be drawing all 12 issues, no fill-ins. There are 7 issues drawn already if I recall correctly. They've had massive lead-in for this.

Great interview! Personally I love what he's done with the art. The layout itself makes it really jump off the page. I'm really digging the design of the new villain too I'm surprised you didn't mention her at all. And how awesome is Kate's apartment? Fantastic details there, especially the posters.

I like that Kate is a very different styled hero than most and it's cool to see tattoos on a character who isn't, you know, the Tattooed Man, but they kind of don't make sense for someone who is trying to keep their identity a secret. Other than that I love it all and can't wait for more.
