I just realized that we didn't have a thread devoted specifically to this issue.
I'm still finding this an interesting read. Frazer Irving's art continues to impress. The absence of any other credits leads one to believe that he is doing the whole package: pencils, inks and colors. And the dark colors certainly reinforce the mood of this story. The story continues to make use of familiar characters, which helps keep one's attention. This issue Lane goes up against Talia (who wants the suit back), though they eventually end up having a sit-down conversation. She's the one who tells him about the suit's history and side-effects, something that his benefactors conveniently left out. Nightwing, Oracle, Bullock and even Farelli are all a part of this story. And we also meet Lane's mother. The story ends with Lane sneaking into the batcave and being confronted by Nightwing. This story is only incidentally connected with BFTC and is pretty accessible, despite all of the continuity hooks. I'm enjoying it at the moment but am still not convinced it has long term potential, beyond the initial mini series. If DC is contemplating a follow-up, I think a better move initially might be another mini-series, rather than a premature ongoing title.

As I shared in another thread, I like the writing. I love the art. But the story and the character do absolutely nothing for me. If not for being a Battle for the Cowl tie-in, with appearances of Talia (who I really love), I'd have stopped buying it after issue one. And issue 2 did nothing to change my opinion.
Fabian is a great writer, and I've really enjoyed Frazer Irving's artwork. It's all the character. |

It's a good read for a mini but if they want to revisit it after I need something a little more hard hittng. I think the character can be used in a lot of ways to make it interestng. We will see.

This mini has been a very good read jim, I am enjoying it, I guess the art is superb and the writing is solid too.
Looking forward to the last issue.

Yeah I'll agree, it's a pretty good mini-serie and the art is amazing.

I'm a little disappointed with how this has been going so far, actually, but I do have one question. I might have missed this somewhere, but is it ever explained exactly how Lane gets from the end of Batman 681 to the start of the mini series?
