If Morrison's wishes are being followed then I think Dick is very much the most likely successor. Damian is pretty much the only choice for Robin - and issue 666 pretty clearly stated that Damian followed Dick in the role of Batman.

I'm calling that Tim gets seriously maimed, hurt, wounded or kill and that's what forces Dick to wear the cowl.
I dont see any other way Dick becomes Batman. Out of the three of them Jason is the brass one who would become Batman because he thinks its his right. Tim would take up the role just because no one else would want too and he knows the world needs a Batman. But Dick needs some thing tragic to happen.

I think Dick, given how he clutches the cowl in that splash at the end of 681, he's gotta be a feint. To me, it makes no sense for DC to parade around the winner of BtfC, as they're doing with Dick standing in the shadow of the Bat at every opportunity, and then play up the mystery aspect of the mini, i.e. "Who's going to win the cowl?" Plus, it's pretty much set in stone that Damian's going to be the new Robin, which nags the question, "Well, what was wrong with the old Robin?" Check it out, it's all in that link.

I think the only reason why Tim wouldn't become the new Batman is if Morrison ISN'T controlling the outcome of that mini series.
The same thing could have been said about Bucky since he was the one who Marvel had parading around and in the end Bucky became the new Cap.

Dick doesn't want the role. He's the only one of the three main contenders (the Robins) who is actively opposed not only to taking the role himself but to putting the burden on another.

Tim and Jason both put on the cowl in the first issue, and neither wears the post-RIP costume. As a writer, I wouldn't consider it that much of a character arc to put either in the costume full-time.

So far the story looks like one where Dick ends up in the cowl unless they kill him next issue.

I assume Bruce will eventually have back the cowl but for the time being it will be Dick.

I really don't see that happening. I could see a minor injury perhaps (broken leg, etc.), but nothing more. I mean, think about it, Tim gets killed so Dick suggests that ten year old Daiman become Robin? I don't think so.

As for who becomes Batman... I think today's Morrison interview pretty much confirms the fact that it's Dick.

Dick Grayson for the cowl....because its no fun competing with a Kryptonian Nightwing.

Has anyone considered if a permanently/badly injured Tim becomes Oracle for a while after BftC?

I'm figuring that Dick has the cowl after the dust has settled and will fill the role perfectly until they decide to bring Bruce back.

Dick doesn't want to be Batman but he's going to be responsible enough to realize that out of ALL of them he's the best fit for the role.

When Bruce had his back broken he took up the mantle (reluctantly) for a short time but he did so with the understanding that at some point Bruce was coming back.

As it is now as far as they know Bruce is dead, he's not coming back. Batman is bigger than all of them and despite his hesitations about assuming the role Dick knows how important it is that that role is filled.

If it were up to me i'd have tim = red robin as a the next logical step in his character development

dick becoming batman for an extended period and having a war of sorts with jason who becomes the murdering batman who kills and perhaps reverts to his more extreme red hood type persona. I think it'd be great to see a full on war between those two with damien becoming jason's robin.

It could be where Dick feels that the only way to keep Daiman under control is if he makes him Robin.
