Default First post and a ponderous question for 50's-60's Batman experts

First post from a middle-aged (one time / sometimes) fanboy.

A fanatic as a youngster I'm one of those collectors who jumped back into the hobby around the time of of Miller's D.K... I was there thru the "glut" and I have become a closet collector (15 or 16 long-boxes tucked away and seldom purchase anything new)

A few titles over the years have renewed my interest and the Dark Knight, Iron Man and WATCHMEN movies haven't hurt either.

I was wracking my brain the other day trying to track down info on a comic I owned when I was young... I'll explain:

I was a 10 or 12 year old kind living on a farm in the late 60's and I got my weekly comic fix at a general store in a nearby town. A cousin of mine from "the big city" noticed I was into comics and on one visit gifted me a few older titles; some Gold Key stuff and one Batman that I can still picture in my mind.

I would have sworn the cover read: "Batman versus The Glass Master" and I remember BM & robin looking with disbelief at the Batmobile that had been turned to glass! It was the older batmobile with the large "mask" on the front...

Today I looked at many cover archive sites, did many Google searches and even scoured eBay and nada!

ANYONE ever heard of this comic? I always thought it was a regualr BM title but maybe it was something else?

Any help from BM experts out there would be greatly appreciated.

Wayne

Maybe it's Detective Comics 266? Except for the villain, it fits your description.

Thanks Thok, but that is not the cover... The Batmobile is shown turned into glass on the cover...

I would have sworn the Villian was "The Glass Master"

Default Found it!

Funny how the mind works... I would have sworn the Villian was "The Glass Master" but as it turns out it was the Atomic Man...

I remember the cover like it was yesterday. The campy villian with his helmet... Well, that puts an end to something that has bugged me for years! 1960... I remeber my cousin telling the comic was a few years old and that I should take good care of it... he gave it to me in an envelope between two pieces of rice paper. I was probably about 10 or 11 making it '66 or '67. It like all my books got tossed (in my case donated to the hospital) We've all heard that story!

Thanks everybody!
