Default Another Good Dan Didio Interview

http://uk.comics.ign.com/articles/959/959780p1.html

He pretty much confirms Catwoman will defo be evil again -

IGN Comics: That sounds like a good place to move on to those new series, about which we've been hearing more and more since the NYCC. First there's Gotham City Sirens, which you announced will star Catwoman, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy, and will lead out of the recent Faces of Evil Hush story. We've seen Selina pushed farther and farther back to the side of villainy in recent months. What makes her finally decide to go for broke and hook up with Harley and Ivy?

DiDio: I think there's going to be an event that takes place between Harley and Ivy that plays off of the way Catwoman was treated in her battle with Hush. It basically makes her revert to her natural state. She's returning to who she truly is. It's harder for her to be good than it is for her to be evil.

I don't think Selina works as either good or evil. But of course it's easier for her to be evil then good! It's easier for everyone! I'm not saying I want her to become a full-time heroine, but I hope she doesn't become as bad as Ivy.

I'm not the biggest Catwoman fan, but I thought she developed into a nicely complex character that straddled the line between good and evil.

It bothers me that DiDio considers her natural state as being evil. There are characters who seem evil at first glance, but their motivations and reasons for their behavior often blur that line between good and evil.

With Dini writing, at least, I doubt it'll be as cut-and-dried as that interview makes it sound.

I don't mind shake ups or changing the status quo if the result ends up being quality, but it seems so predictable all of DC's decisions with their storylines.
Everything is going back to the Silver Age.
Catwoman is evil again, Oracle will be Batgirl again, Barry is the Flash...

Everything is being undone in order to go back to basics except for stuff like rape retcons and the JLI being killed off.

Wait, what? What's all this evil nonsense? Since when does morally ambiguous count as being evil?

Thumbs down

What bullsh!t. Shows how out of touch DiDio is. Now I'm not so sure I'll even bother with GCS.

Whatever, he didn't really say anything new Catwoman.

anything he says gets jumped on and blown out of proportion by fans who know better it seems. what fun

More reason to believe that this is the title Morrison will be writing.

IGN Comics: Let's start off with Battle for the Cowl, which is now only a couple weeks away. From the sound of it, it looks like Cowl, its tie-ins and the many series to follow plan on shaking up the Batman family and the Batman world in a more significant capacity than we've seen in years, and perhaps in your entire tenure. By shaking up the Batman world like you are, what are your hopes for both his corner of the DCU and the Batman franchise as a whole?

Dan DiDio: A couple things are accomplished. The first one is that we realized how important Bruce Wayne is by his absence. What happens is you see the void that's created in Gotham City, how everyone is affected by it and how he's affected people over the years. Ultimately, even though he's not there, he's still an incredible presence in all these characters' lives and in the city itself.
They did this twice already with 52 and the OYL Batman books, not to mention the other times in the past with Knightfall and Prodigal. How many times are we going back to that well?

Same goes for Superman and him not being in Action Comics and Superman.
