Default Batman: Cacophony -- The Aftermath

Alright...

spoilers:
Onomatopoeia comes to Gotham, and frees the Joker from Arkham. The Joker then chases down a newly-legit Maxie Zeus for having made cash off of a drug called "Chuckles," which was a derivative of Joker Venom. Mr. Zsasz makes a brief appearance in the first issue (with a very Bret Easton Ellis sort of bent), and gets thrashed by Batman. Onomatopoeia essentially shows up whenever the Joker's in trouble and saves him from cops, criminals, and Batman.

The Joker is used as bait by Batman to catch Onomatopoeia, but when he's cornered, he stabs the Joker in the heart, and Gordon ends up yelling at Batman for letting Onomatopoeia get away while saving the Joker's life.

Batman and the Joker end up having a heart-to-heart in the hospital five months later, and the Joker claims that, if he killed Batman, he would turn himself in immediately after-- effectively blaming Batman for all his crimes. Onomatopoeia is revealed to be a family man with a completely secret identity.
end of spoilers

Am I the only one amused by the Joker's scraggly beard? I didn't think he'd be able to grow facial hair. Pretty neat.

What did y'all think? Overall, I thought the miniseries was a 3/5.

I dug it. Cool conversation between Baman and the Joker at the end of issue 3. The artwork was decent and I think it's cool that the guy who says "Tell'em Steve-Dave!" drew it.

I was shaky about how I felt about this going into the last issue, but the hospital scene with Batman and Joker totally won me over. I'm not sure how I feel about Joker commenting on Batman's bulge though..

I think Kevin Smith writes a pretty hilarious Joker, and I was really impressed with Walt Flanagan's art.

I agree that he was a riot, but I just don't know how much I really like that version

Seconded. I wouldn't mind him getting some more work if he's up for it.

Not as good as some of Kevin other comics work, IMO, but still pretty good.

Joker recognizing Matches was spot on.

Wow, now there's something you don't see every issue of the Batman.

I'm glad to hear the last issue was good. I've been waiting for it for a while now. I'll have to pick it up this weekend.

I never finished the first issue. Might get around to it now it's all done.
