Does anyone know whether Heath Ledger read the TKJ version colored by John Higgins? Or if he read the newer re-colored version done by Bolland . .
Just that I'm writing a paper about the original coloring vs. the newer version, (its effects psychologically, why people prefer one over the other, etc). And I want to compare that with how it may have effected Tim Burton's approach vs. Nolan's more realistic approach in TDK. I'm also not sure if the comic book was re-colored AFTER Nolan's movie or not. yup, anyone know anything about it? Last edited by meek-minx; 11-16-2008 at 09:27 PM. |

The Deluxe, re-colored edition was released March 2008. Ledger died in January.

ah i see, so the deluxe was definitely made after the movie.
makes me wonder if Bolland based his re-coloring off the movie then, then again, he said himself that's how he had intended the coloring to be from the beginning. thanks by the way. |

Ledger actually didn't read any comic. He was asked too but he didn't like the medium. He says so in an interview.
http://www.iesb.net/index.php?option...3691&Itemid=99 And I've heard that Bolland never liked the coloring in the The Killing Joke and he given a chace to change it. It didn't had anything to do with The Dark Knight.

Oh! ok that does make sense, lol. -I read somewhere else that he even hated the typical comic book movie, so it seemed strange he would sit through reading from a genre he usually disliked. (Though I think his main reason for liking TDK instead was because it was much more realistic).
Thanks for the link/ info. ^^ |

Yes, that's accurate. He had liked "Batman Begins" quite a bit and when the meeting with Nolan took place, he agreed without reading a script as he had confidence in Nolan to make a script that was worth while. |
