Was it just a one shot? or was it a few issue's then collected into the hardback i can only find today? i want a orignal.....

okay so...still super ignorant about all this stuff, but I had a fiasco a while back so I'm gonna offer up my not so expert knowledge.
When I found it for my wife, the book was hard back, as you know, and it was short enough that I'm guessing it was a one-shot deal that they've re-released. |

It was just the one issue. I'm not sure why (probably due to a low print run) but an original copy is pretty expensive. It was only released two/three years ago and I think it's going for something like $20 nowadays.

You can obtain the story in a collection also called, "The Man Who Laughs". It was collected with a Batman/Green Lantern (Alan Scott) team-up from Detective Comics. Both stories are by Ed Brubaker.
