Marvel is doing this with all these 'parental advisory' wolverine one shots too and it's frickin' stupid.

They want to be able to do 'mature' batman and wolverine stories but they still want EVERY Batman/Wolverine story to be something you can sell to ANY kid.....and it's crappy because Wolverine MAX/Vertigo Miller Batman would KICK ASS uncensored.

i was actaully enjoying this series up until this issue....forgettable....useless violence and expletives.....and the dialogue makes it seem that frank miller is trying REALLY hard to add some depth to the story

lets hope the next issue is better

Bingo, BATMAN MAX would kick all kinds of ass(the no KILL rule must still exist tho). I'm pissed we didn't get the ball grabbing, that would've been awesome to see.

I'm still sticking with this title.

I'll tell you why. Because DC's deathly scared that some writer will show Batman "gettin' some" at some point. Same reason why the "The Boys" wound up at Dynamite. The Boys was gore-filled from page one, but the minute Ennis wanted to show 'Tec Knight and Laddio spit-roasting their "Catwoman" DC bailed like hippies at a death metal concert.
What? Is that a comic or author or what?

Also I agree that Batman should have 1 vertigo title. You don't need to fill it with senseless violence, sex, and cursing, but Gotham City is horrible, junky, festering city, and maybe we will get to see what it is like there and see what Batman and Co go through. (More realistically than the regular titles.)

I would only want Batman on Vertigo if a capable writer was in charge though. Otherwise we will get someone who just wants to add in a bunch of junk because they can, not because it advances the plot or adds to character development.

Yeah, but DC hasn't done something that Ballsy since DKR, Which was kind of Batman Verigo in retrospective.

Howsabout letting someone who still has an interest in doing proper Batman stories rather than crude pastiches?
Greg Rucka comes to mind...

I thought Frank's deal with DC, off the heels of Sin City, gave him 100 percent creative control over this book. How is DC able edit and censor his work when their contract says they can't?

I think Miller is just doing the best he can to get DC off his back and quit nagging him to do more Dark Knight stories.

I know I'm in the minority but I love ASBR. It's just mindless fun that's very pretty to look at. Thematically to book has the spirt of very violent Asian action movies which I'm also into.

Last I knew, DC doesn't like to have the same character appearing in both the DCU and the Vertigo universe. Once a former DCU character makes the transition to Vertigo, you typically don't see them in the DCU anymore.

And I agree, it seems rather pointless to write dialog (or draw pictures) you know will never appear. Ahem, especially when you seem to have a hard time meeting deadlines as it is. For that matter, what's the deal with lettering the original language and then blotting it out? What th--?

Yeah, when I saw Miller was doing All-Star Batman I remember the great work he did on The Dark Knight Returns and Year: One. This does not seem to be written by that same guy.

It seems like he's trying to keep up with what's edgy for today, like some of the stuff Mark Millar or Garth Ennis does. Dudes garbage now, writing Batman like it's Sin City.

Maybe Frank Miller thinks that using @#$% as substitutes for curse words are too childish and he wants a more more realistic, mature approach like on TV. The literary equilvalent of the *BEEP* from SouthPark
