Default Angel: Revelations #3 Summary/Review

It is December 20th when this issue begins and the students are about to go on Christmas break. Warren is talking to his mother on the phone and it turns out that he’s not going back home for Christmas. His mother tries to continue talking to him but his father rushes her off the phone. Warren then starts to complain about his parents, but then Andrew talks about how his do not care about him at all. Warren replies that Andrew wins as crap families go and he thanks Andrew for staying with him. Andrew starts to say that two weeks alone with Warren is a dream come true, but then he corrects himself and says two weeks alone on campus is a dream come true. He also says that he owes Warren for saving him from Brandon and his goons. The scene goes to Amanda and Brandon talking outside. Brandon is basically obsessed with getting revenge on Warren.

Then Warren and Andrew are sitting together at a big table that is basically empty. Andrew then states that Warren still hasn’t shown him and Warren says that he will. The next day Warren prepares to show Andrew his wings. And the art during this scene is simple amazing, but I’ll get to that later. Andrew is in shock as he sees Warren’s wings and he asks him if he can fly and Warren tells him he has been practicing. Andrew asks how fast he can fly and Warren asks Andrew would he like to help him find out.

The boys go out to a frozen lake and they decide to race across it with Andrew in his skates and Warren flying. Warren thinks about how it feels to fly. He then notices that Andrew is on thin ice. The ice cracks and Andrew falls. Warren rushes to save his friend and he gets him out of the water. In his room Warren is trying to pump the water out of Andrew’s chest. Andrew coughs up the water. Later in the dining hall they are walking together and they bump into the priest that has been doing things to Andrew. Father Palmer tells Andrew that he is expecting him to serve at Christmas vespers. Warren then asks if he can join. The priest clearly doesn’t want this but there is no way that he can say no. After he leaves, Warren asks Andrew about his relationship with the priest and Andrew proceeds to tell him.

In the final scene, the man that shot Mary Margaret and her mother is standing in a hotel room and he is talking to…MARY MARGARET!! She’s alive!! It turns out that he has been using Mary to find other people with powers that appear to be religious. Once he finds them; he kills them. He has also shot off Mary’s foot to keep her with him. He then tells her that she will help him find Warren to make him experience God’s wrath.

I think that this was my favorite issue so far. It was nice to see Warren’s friendship with Andrew. And mostly, MARY MARGARET IS BACK! I knew she couldn’t have been dead! She is just too awesome too die!

The art in this issue is really awesome. Pollina’s detail is wonderful. Especially when Warren shows Andrew his wings. I love the fact that you can see Angel’s wings in the shadows. As you can see below, those panels are beautiful! Especially the two page spread! And when Warren is flying, it’s just beautiful. I really love Pollina’s art.

Here are scans of my favorite scenes from the issue.

This was a great issue! I'm loving this book. A little gem indeed.

It is. I wish more people were reading it. They are missing out!

We should frown on those who said she was still dead! This is what happens when you keep hope!

The art is so good. This guy needs to draw Uncanny or Legacy.

Adam Pollina actually used to draw for X-Force. I liked his stuff back then, not 100% but I liked the energy. Today, I LOVE how his style has evolved! Great visuals, man. Totally authentic. Great story too.

I love this book and I love Angel. I'm glad he's out of limbo, even if he's being written out-of-character in UXM.

All I will say is that I really, really, really, really like this book.

The story, the art, the tone... It just works so freaking well.

Can I have some more, please?

I would love to see him on Uncanny (because I do not read Legacy) but it would probably fit Legacy better. Then I would have to pick up Legacy.

I wish this were more than a mini. And I hope a lot of people who aren't picking it up now will get the trade because they are really missing out.

Many probably will. I'm having to wait a week or so for my issues since I get mine by subscription, others will probably hold out for the trade.

I would love if Mary Margaret lives past issue five! Darn religious zealots always kill fun mutants.

omg. I never realized this was the same artist. I always liked Pollina's work in X-Force. His style in Angel is so dramatic! His artwork is really driving the story along. Love it!

That's a shame. I'm really like Warren's personality in this book. Even his bourgeois parents even help explain his lame playboy personality Warren has in the MU.
