Default Claw anyone?

I'm really enjoying the Claw series, especially after such a good send off from Red Sonja. Anybody else?

Makes two of us.

That's why it's a real kicker to see it's getting the axe after #6... :(

OH...! I've got it on my pull list but I haven't been paying attention to publishing schedules

Man this sucks… what happened?

Well, I guess no Showcase Presents for Claw. :(

I got the first two issues and was not greatly impressed. I have since replaced it's spot in my pull list for Rush City (another Chuck Dixon title) which I think will turn out to be a wonderful book.

Yeah, Claw #1 was really a continuation of of the Red Sonja / Claw mini-series. I think Dixon blew it by not providing context for new readers, especially the origin of his demon claw.

I wrote a review of Red Sonja / Claw #1 for PRG.net
http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/12/12091.phtml

…as you can tell, I had a lot of hope for the character.

If you haven't already, try picking up the old CLAW series. They're pretty cheap, and easy to find. Pretty decent reads for us fans who really dig the character.

Yeah, and that's so disappointing with Hex.

I've done my best to push it at my LCS, but people avoid it like the plague. Besides a girl, I'm the only one who buys it.

I'll be buying the trade if it'll help. This book needs to survive!

Maybe the the Mini-series IS the the best route for characters like this.

Oh well Red and Conan are still going strong... :(

So what is the continuity of Claw? Does it take place in the DC universe? I remember seeing him in a Who's Who years ago and I saw him recently in Day of Vengeance storyline in Nightmaster's bar

Originally, it didn’t matter (I believe) if he was or wasn’t part of the continuity. The comic had Conan-like adventures in a mythical place. But after Warlord was ham-handed into DC continuity around Crisis, I think that Claw was thought of as part of it as well. At some point, in the 1990s, a new Claw showed up with a Demon Hand in the modern DC universe, meaning that the curse had been passed down many, many generations. So, yes Claw is a part of DC continuity, but he lives in a remote prehistoric period like the Hyborian Age (or maybe thee Hyborian Age as he has met Red Sonja). Maybe the DC folks wanted to downplay this and that’s why they brought him over to WS.

This book is great, I can't believe it's ending so soon. Dixon and Smith have done an outstanding job with each issue.........:(
