Default Killing Joke What-If?

I just thought of something that could've gone different in the Killing Joke. What if Gordon was the one to open the door instead of Barbara, and Joker shot him, crippling him?

Joker had the time to focus on who he was about to shoot.
Besides the whole point of shooting Barbara was to try to bring gordon to madness, he was trying to prove that anyone could become like him if they had a "bad day".

I don't think anything diferent would happen except that he would push Gordon away and still shoot Barbara.

It was not about the door.
Joker want to lead Gordon crazy. So he shot his daughter.
If Gordon was at the door joker would put him aside and would run for Barbara(this way probably she would have reaction time and would put him down).

So to cripple Gordon instead of Barbara... it must be something like this:
Joker know who the batgirl is and want to lead her crazy... then it would make sense Joker shot in Jim.

Gordon would've been healed, he was and is important to the mythos.

IIRC, that's basically the story of the Zero Hour Batgirl. Joker bursts open the door and shoots Jim through his heart and takes Babs to the abandoned amusement park. Batman rescued Babs and the Joker escaped. (Batman #511)

Jim suffered the most under Joker , having his daughter crippled and then have his 2nd wife murdered by the Joker , the only payback he ever did was when his rage unleashed eclipso on Joker during the anniversary of Barbara's shooting. Of course , batman had to get involved and stop eclipso before he can kill joker.
