How is that? There is clearly a succession of Immortal Weapons, we explicitly see how the legacy passes on for Fat Cobra (challengers to a monster), Tiger's Beautiful Daughter (bloodline) and Dog Brother (killing your predecessor) while the Bride of Nine Spiders story doesn't seem to contradict their being prior Brides. All of these allow for their to be a first group of Immortal Weapons.

No, i'm with you. Probably not terrible, just mediocre (like the rest have been).

The storytelling is pure pedantry and the art seems fill-in c-list at best.

I just wish more care was given to the books' craftsmanship.

How do these cities look as if they are attached to earth any more than Kun Lun? Kun Lun seems to be a city in mountainous country to it's inhabitants. Cobra's seems to be on an island, but being on an island doesn't mean it is on earth any more than kun lun's being on a mountain.

These minor details can easily be explained away, but the point is... they shouldn't have to be. Instead of exploring the universe of the 7 Cities, they seem to just be telling fairly cliched stories with the various Weapons slotted in as protagonists.

I don't know that exploring their cities is necessary for the characters. There is still a lot we don't know about Kun Lun, stories featuring these characters is a bit more important to me than background on where they came from.
In the case of Fat Cobra and Tigers Beautiful Daughter, we have found out quite a deal about these cities.

I'm enjoying the Immortal Weapons series well enough, but the back-up stories are killling me. Iron Fist looks terrible and the story is a waste of space.
