Tim, let me reiterate what Jim said and welcome you to the forum. I also like what you did on this issue, too. Nice stuff.

Practicality in costuming can go to hell. These are COMIC BOOKS for chrissakes.

That being said, the costume did blow. The only one I like is Babs' classic grey / yellow with the heeled boots.

Those ideas went out with the Hostess Fruit Pie ads.

Anyway, it's Steph's first night on the job in her new costume, which works much better than the sketches made it seem. Ordinary stuff; she stops a mugger, pretty much moons a bus-load of tourists and has witty banter issues. Then the entire city gets blacked out. Turns out Livewire is in town. This is a great scene. Livewire is like, "You do know I fight Superman, right?" And the bit with Detective Nick Whatshisname, Jim Gordon and Steph was priceless.

Four issues in and this book is really hitting its stride.
I loved that line from Livewire haha. The dialogue over all was a lot of fun, and a light hearted book to read

Yeah, I agree the book is hitting its stride and I'm looking forward to the next issue indeed! Good times and Batgirl is one of the better Batman series out right now.

I have a book on modern warfare which includes a long list of military proverbs -- I think they were called "Murphy's Laws of Combat" or something like that. Along with "Friendly fire isn't" and "Suppressing fire doesn't," there's also the following gem: "If it looks stupid, but it works, it isn't stupid."

In other words, if Babs wore high-heeled boots for years while fighting crime as Batgirl, and consistently won, then her choice of footgear must have been brilliant in some way that we aren't immediately seeing!

P.S. I do remember the time Cassandra Cain experimented with wearing one of Babs's old suits, with the result that she lost her footing in the middle of a fight and finally returned the suit to Babs with one heel broken off, but maybe the kid had never tried wearing high-heeled boots in her life before! Practice makes perfect, as they say!
