i was a marvel zombie for the longest of times and never picked up a dc book at all. but i did watch the toons, jl, jlu, the various bat shows and superman

then i picked up the hardcover of identity crisis and slowly started picking up different books. hush, infinite crisis, some green lanters (sinestro corp war) JLA hardbacks as well as some JLA

i really like GL, but will only buy TPB or HC so i wont read FN until that comes out. some of the books are hit and miss. i thought FC sucked hugely and should have known so since it was morrison only.

i enjoyed 52 though

I became a DC fan because Superman is a DC character. Enough said.

Batman may be a bit of a loner and a jerk, but I don't really think of him as an anti-hero, let alone "the ultimate anti hero." When I think of anti-heroes, I think of characters like the Punisher, who is more than willing to murder his enemies. Batman doesn't kill. Anti-heroes ignore all authority except their own. Batman tries to work with the police when possible. Anti-heroes don't care about morality. Batman has a very strong moral code.

In terms of anti-heroes, Marvel seems to have a lot more prominent ones than DC. Just off the top of my head: the Hulk, Wolverine, at least half of the X-Men, Magneto and Mystique (when they aren't being villains), and pretty much every "hero" in the Ultimate universe except Spider-Man.

I remember the 100 page giants especially the wrap around Neal adams cover of the Justice league/Society. It reprinted the meeting between the two.

I read Marvel when I was a kid and watched all the cartoons and stuff. I stopped reading comics for a long time, until I picked up the first issues of All - Star Superman. After that I read pretty much every Marvel or DC article on Wikipedia and started collecting like crazy. Eventually, I ended up liking DC alot for some reason.

Used to exclusively read Marvel books, saw a preview for JSA (#16 I believe, with the Injustice Society's attack on their headquarters), was curious about the blonde girl with the stars, and ended up loving it when I picked it up. From there I branched out to stuff like Teen Titans, JLA and Birds of Prey.

DC's ridiculous focus on one event after another (far worse than Marvel) kind of puts me off of really collecting many of their books though, as I feel like I'll miss out on anything of importance if I don't pick up 2/3 mini's every month.
