the problem with yaoi is that it's basically a sub catagory of shojou-manga. in shoujou manga you have the classic love triangle the girl the grumpy guy and the happy guy ... yaoi just cuts out the middle man and has the grumpy guy bonk the happy guy

though i must say a lot of it has rather good humor between long smoldering glances and butt sex

and just about all hentai has slightly stunted plot growth

For clarifacation, not all doujinshi or doujins are porn. Doujinshi is any fan made or even just small press comics. It's just that sex sells, so the porn ones are quite popular. Thus it seems like more of them get made.
