Here's one of the color ideas for #4 cover...

It's a bit busy, for all I know I might drop this for a completely new cover, or a completely different color scheme.

NOTE: I just tossed the logo on there for reference, this is NOT the actual cover dress.

This looks like a pretty sweet book, dude. I'll definitley be picking it up!

    One question, though:

How did you consistantly make those rectangular panels with rounded corners? Did you use a straight-edge then round the corners?

Tell me the secrets of your magic!

Both my flatmate and I picked up a copy today, and both of us really enjoyed it, and are looking forward to the next 3.
    Best of luck!

Read issue 1 this evening.....awesome read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looking forward to #2. This is a very unique book, in that there's really nothing else quite like it out on the shelves these days.

Gonna recommend it to everyone! :D

Wow, nice! Thanks very much. Yes, I really wanted to hit that note. Be different, be unique and twist it around. There are so many good comics out there, the competition for those hard earned bucks are fierce. I hope the unique concept behind Bomb Queen works for everyone that finds it interesting. It's not just T&A, or simply sex and violence. Bomb Queen has a lot going on on a number of levels, and in the backgrounds and characters.

As I said at the Image Comics WonderCon convention panel, this over-the-top book is a twist on traditional comics heroes / villains. And I think we need that today. So often the city is just set dressing for things that happen to the hero - but not the reason or dirving force for WHY the hero or villain exist. World building is important for all comics. I hope I get the character of "the city" across as much as Bomb Queen, herself.

The following issues will rock your socks. I had some original art at WonderCon and it was well received.

Thanks again, Sharcque for your support!

Those rounded corners are from drafting templates. Man, you'd be surprised how many of those I use. My drawing table looks like Hellraiser. Tools, templates, and stuff all around, hanging and tacked up. Not only the rounded corners, but ALL the word balloons, and sound effects are also drawn by me using circle and oval templates - that's not a computer, my friend!

Yep, just some of my "secrets".

had #1 on my pull list & was able to pick it up saturday. enjoyed it a lot, though one thing that i found a bit offputting was your lettering ... i'm at work & can't verify my memories, but it seems to me that all your letters appear heavily emphasized, with the effect being like reading an e-mail that's all-uppercase -- i.e. giving the impression of shouting.

maybe it's just me, though. or maybe i'm misremembering.

    Yes, you're right.

And I've heard this from others, too. My apologies. The lettering gets cleaned up in #2 and beyond. Here's the deal - straight from the horse's mouth. I did the hand-lettering... but I hadn't done so in about 5 years, or MORE. So I took it to Bomb Queen much like thinking I can still skateboard like a young lad. Sadly it turned out that getting back into that groove doesn't really hit until #2 and beyond.

I admit, the lettering is just for me, because a font not only will do the same, but better. If Bomb Queen ever gets a trade, trust me I'll swap out all the text (even the better stuff in the later issues) just for the sake of consistency.

Thanks for your comments, believe me I hear them and I'm on it. Thanks for your support.
