    Default Global Comic Jam

Hi! This is the new thread for those involved with Global Comic Jam!!!

We'll be hanging out over here after our messageboard went down. CBR has been a welcome place for me for three years (yes, pre-Jonah's "Zero Hour"), and I thought I'd invite the GCJ contributors over here to talk about the strips. I know I'm new there, but I love GCJ.... and liked having a forum to discuss the new pages.

Plus, we hope that some of you great CBR artists will join up with the fun of contributing pages to the series on the site! I actually first heard about the site when CBR poster Drew Moss posted a link to his page for the strip "Fusion Odyssey". Not only was I impressed with Drew's work, I also liked alot of the other work there as well and enjoyed the idea of participating!

Global Comic Jam's comics work much like a traditional campfire story. The idea is that each new page is written and drawn by a different artist. The result is that each page is of course something unique and different, that maybe something someone else didn't expect. When you sign up, you usually don't know what the page you will follow up on will look like until it gets posted, but your job is to continue the story from that point.

I'll let Kim Larsen explain it, probably way better than me. Kim is the guru of Global Comic Jam and started it with a very fun comic called "Almost Real". Plus, he's a very nice guy.

I'm relatively new, and just posted my first page there... great time for our forum to go kaput. I want some feedback, so I made the suggestion to post here at CBR while the forum's down. My next post will have the link to my first page there.

Please feel free to post your comments and critiques here about any and all of the great strips over at Global Comic Jam ( http://www.globalcomicjam.com )

I'd thought I'd start us with one thread for now. If lots of people come in, and the thread gets very long, maybe we can start some new ones based on the most popular series.

If you are from GCJ, welcome to the CBR forums.
If you are from CBR, welcome to the world of GCJ.

The "Quick answer" just ate my reply... o.k. here we go again:

Nice to have this solution here! I already started missing the GCJ-forum! :)
For all the people who don't know me: I'm Michael Vogt and did several pages for GCJ. The latest ones were this one for "Cut" (one of my favorite jams:
    http://www.globalcomicjam.com/comicjams/cut/cut_025.htm

and this one for "Almost Real":
    http://www.globalcomicjam.com/comicj...streal_050.htm

    Hope you like it!

    @Scott: Very nice page!

well this is a suitable solution.

have we considering setting up a tribe as a secondary back-up once we're done here?

Wel, here I am. As far as I can see, Surface and Vitruv are the jams that have been updated after the site came back.

SURFACE: Nice art, a bit cryptic. Is the Surface becoming the Surface of the Paper? Like the irregular frame work.

VITRUV: Heh. More familiar names, I see. Great art, story a bit confusing. Guess I'll take the time to read the whole thing from the beginning and see how the parts work together.

And yes, my avatar just blinked at you.

Does anyone still have the list for Fusion Odyssey that tells what's been established, but even more important what needs to be named or taken care of? I thought that list was pretty helpful in brainstorming.

I know Thomas said Cicero's sister needed a name, but I thought she was called MAGE on page 24. She hasn't been seen since page 25 when she swallowed a pink pill and fainted. There were some other items, and I just woudl love to see the list again.

Kim, are you able to copy it here for us?

Man, I feel like a refugee forced to flee my home because of Spam. Wow, it's been a while since I've been here, but CBR has always been a great place. (Hey me and Scott signed up in the same month last year! Weird.) Thanks for putting us up guys. We'll try not to mess up the place or drink all your booze.

Nice thinking Scott moving us over here, I was really starting to miss you guys. Hey, and good job with your Jetdog page. I, for one, was not ready to see the mighty Jetdog go.

So, other than being homeless, I guess it's business as usual. Get back to work youse mugs! :D

No, can't do that. The backup I took of the messageboard is one big incomprehensible (?) textfile ... and I can't unlock it before I get a new messageboard on GCJ.

And another thing ... I'm not even sure removing the messageboard fixed the problem. I am still recieving fake emails from GCJ - and I have no idea how that happens! Do any of you guys recieve email from addresses like this: as7955@globalcomicjam.com, for3334@globalcomicjam.com and rolled@web03.talkactive.net??? Or is that just me?

I only receive e-mails from some guy who calls himself "master@globalcomicjam". Some sort of superiority complex or something he must have. :)

Seriously, no, I haven't gotten any e-mails from those addresses.

    Thanks, Kim!

That was short. I'll go over right now, but we may need this thread as a back-up (in case it happens again) and as a way to communicate with our friends here at CBR. We can announce new pages here and get some feedback. Plus, I'd sure like to see CBR artists like Jade, Eliseu, 13th, and Howy take interest one day in doing some pages.

Thanks, Ultraman. That's what's so great about doing a jam... the unpredictablity, the variety of artwork styles, and trying to work with what came before and add your own mark to it.

There are slots open on JetDog (as can be seen on the work schedule page). If you or anyone else is interested in doing a page for JetDog or another strip, just e-mail Kim Larsen at master@globalcomicjam.com . He's posting right here as udgang99.
