Default Dan's Marvel Doodles II: Re-Assembled!

    Hey ever'body!

I'd like to introduce everyone to my brand-new doodle thread. I'm not sure there's much else to say, except that i hope you like what i have to show you, and thanks for checking it out!

There'll definitely be some repeats of characters as the old doodle thread but that's because i'm working off of a brand new list. But since the characters are chosen at random, there'll be plenty of new faces too.

I guess there's not much left to say except, on with the show!

I'm starting this thread off with a bang, by posting a WHOPPING 20 (twenty!) new doodles. I hope you like 'em.

First up, we have some Uncanny X-Chicks:

    Storm
    Rogue
    Jean (Phoenix)
    Dark Phoenix
    and Sage

I decided to tweak Sage's costume a little bit from last time, reflecting the purple and red from her recent costume in Uncanny.

For Jean, i wanted to fix her face a little bit (as i was never really happy with it), and maybe try to make it a little more like Famke. I don't know how successful i was..

Next up, there are some more Crazy X-Folk on the way:

    Kitty Pryde (with Lockheed)
    Wolverine (Brown & Tan)
    Wolverine (Blue & Yellow)
    Marvel Girl
    and Callisto

Let me just say- I really like John Cassaday's Wolverine Costume. I didn't really want to change it much. But i'm also a sucker for the brown costume. So i played with the color palettes a little. :)

Let me also say- Rachel's really fun to draw.

And for Callisto- I wasn't sure if i wanted to do the tentacle version or not, but i felt that the tentacles would make for a more dynamic visual. I can always go back in later and give her some arms, but i'm happy with the version here.

Two more from the world of X, Two FF characters, and one Spidey Villain!

    We have:

    Blob
    Omega Red
    Invisible Woman
    Super-Skrull
    and The Lizard

I wanted to make the Blob as blob-ular as possible, and not just a big fat dumb guy. I thought he should look like he's spilling all over himself, and that his face should be as creepy as possible

For Omega Red, (a character i've admittedly never liked much) I thought i'd interpret him as someone who's JUST been released from years in cryogenic suspension, and that's he's something of a communist-zombie. That's why for the bandages, and the stringy hair, and the slacked jaw... I also wanted to have his tentacles look like they're part of his forearm (which i believe they are) and not part of his glove, which is how they usually look.

For The Lizard, I thought he should look more like a mindless snake-y beast, and less like a man sized reptile man. Soo.. that's that.

    Here we have:

    Crimson Dynamo
    Nick Fury
    Jessica Jones
    Red Skull
    and Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew)

Crimson Dynamo & Nick fury are pretty much the same as before.
I didn't change much on Spider-Woman.. she has a pretty sweet costume.

As for Red Skull- i wanted to make him look way more ghoulish and crazy- hence the super red for his skull mask, and the long billow-y arms. The giant red swastika is a throw-back to his Golden Age days, which i feel is the most iconic version of his character. He's one of those guys who i feel never should've succumbed to the "Villain in a suit-and-tie phase" of the 80's-90's.

For Jessica Jones, i wanted her clothes to have the same color scheme as her Jewel costume. so there it is.

    and finally...

    Dr. Strange and Dormammu.

I really changed the crap out of Dormammu. I love Ditko's designs, but i always thought this character looked silly in his spikey little baggy purple suit. So i made him into what I think an evil sorcerer should look like, and for some reason i had insect exo-skeletons in mind.

That's it for the first batch! Hope you like 'em, and i'll see ya on the next 'go-round!

Oooh, Jessica! She's all pretty, but not too pretty. Which is a hard balance to hit (Bagley doesn't quite manage it, I don't think, and Cheung's faces aren't always that distinct.) That's probably the second best version of my favorite character! (After later Gaydos, when he settled on a less haggard look)
I looked through the old thread, and I really like about 85% of your stuff, Dan. The more "out there" revamps tend to be what throw me, as they look so different. Totally a subjective thing. Your women are almost all wonderful though. (Sue's a tad generic, I think. I'd go a bit more celeb hottie, as well as the mom-ness, if that makes any sense? And She-Hulk is a little blockier than I tend to like, but once again, just me)

Wow... I absolutely ADORE the Kitty and Lockheed. Your takes on some of these Marvel staples are just amazing- Nick Fury has never looked so grizzled. Omega Read really creeps me out, too.

    Just wow.

    GAHGAHGAH.

I love your villains. Kitty with Lockheed was adorable!! And you know how I feel about Spider-Woman. :D

I love Dr. Strange. Best one for me I think. Also best rendition of Dr. Strange I have ever seen! I prefer your version over any I have seen in the comics.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. I'm a sucker for comments!

And Slive- villains are the most fun to draw. So i'm glad you like 'em.
