Ultimate Ghost Rider. Do you think it should be done?

i would lovefor it to be done. ghost rider is one my fav characters and even though hes been threw a slew of bad writers i think he should make a good comeback in the ultimate universe. even Ennis has created a comeback with the new mini, which is awesome. that and the ghost rider movie has also helped.

I wouldn't be opposed on principle -- though I'm not sure he deserves his own individual title, maybe as a guest star, at least at first -- but I'd want to see a good, modern concept for him that really works. It's not the 70's anymore and people aren't nearly as interested in Satanism or motorcycle stunt riding, so the original's origin wouldn't really work, and Danny Ketch's origin is a bit of a copout. If someone can put an up-to-date, cool spin on him, sure, why not?

Exactly. I wouldn't mind seeing The Spirit of Vengence show up in the Ultimate Universe, but I'd expect it to differ from the regular one quite a bit. He's a character that could benefit from a brand new fresh start.

This would be one Ultimate title that I'd definitely love to see.

Really, does Satanism ever go out of style? Seriously though, it wouldn't be hard to simplify the concept. I mean, really, 99% of Ghost Rider is the image, anyways. Just have him be some biker that gets possessed by the Spirit of Vengeance or something. Hell, maybe make it interesting, have Blaze be some scumback meth-peddling biker type forced to be a superhero, if a kind of creepy, bastardly one.

he could still be a stunt rider, just on a ninja, he could do stuff like in biker boyz... a bad moive, catch it on hbo and have a laugh. but the stunts they do in there, some of them are insane.

    so that angle still works...
as far as the devil and such... im still thinking.

I think they should bring back the 2099 style GR for the model for the Ultimate one.

You could try and play it as pure super-natural thing. An urban legend of a being that stalks the highways on a mission of vengeance, hunting down criminals and leaving them catotonic with a look of his eyes.

Except this legend is actually true. As I'm imagining it now, the look, the bike, would probably all have to be very traditional. Not ninjas, probably some old school chopper, trailing fire as it speeds along. He'd have to have a chain of some sort, since that seems like a traditional spook sort of thing. I'm debating on if his skull should only be on fire when he's using the stare, or if it's always on fire though....

Oh well, it's just a rough idea anyway.

That would be cool. Especially if written by Neil Gaiman (or Stephen King even if Marvel could convince him).

Actually yeah, I think either of them would work real well if Marvel wanted to go that route with the character.

Would be cool for the Spirit of Vengence to be a real spirit. It could posses differant people making them Ghost Rider for a time and leaving when Vengence is achieved.

I'm really hoping this is going to go good. I love to see some change but not that much. Maybe a futuristic origin...nahh.

    Default Here's what I'm thinking.

If you'd play up Ultimate Ghost Rider's horror roots, that'll be amazing. Imagine Steven Niles penning a six-issue arc starting the origins of Johnny Blaze.

Actually, if you throw Dan Ketch in there, you can have a little " Supernatural " thing going, between the two. Johnny Blaze( Blaze being his stagename ) makes a deal with Satan to save He and his brother's ailing father from a terminal illness of some kind.

Really tap into that, make him a urban legend and just have Dan chasing him up and down the western states, slap a fame horror novelist and a cool artists, and Marvel has a hit.
