    Default Anyone use Craig's list?

Just wanted to know who out there has ever used it for anything. I'm advertising a room for rent. The responses (all arriving in my junk-mail folder, fortunately) so far seem to mostly be spammers (i.e. "I'm a single, beautiful model moving to Portland, Maine! I wanna live with YOU!").

    Anyone bought/sold anything?

    Jobseekers with success?

How about the personals? How legit are they?

I got my current job off of Craig's. And I've bought a few items off there that have all been legit. And after I showed my friend the site, he got an apartment off of there. And I've attended a few market research studies I learned about off the site. Haven't tried posting anything though, or tried the personals.

My ex-girlfriend used Craig's list to find roommates. The first roommate only needed a place during her three-month internship at a local corporation, but she was a really good roommate. The second one was a flake, who moved out after a fight with her boyfriend and moved back in with him in less than 60 days. The third roommate was another good one, a pre-med college student who was very studious and quiet.

Interesting. Are you in a large market area (urban)?

That's another thing with the room-for-rent scenario:

Although I advertised that this is preferably not short-term availability, I seem to get the "oh, I can only stay for 2-3 months" type of responses, even though I clearly say in the ad long-term prefered. Both my landlord and I would prefer a longer-term (i.e. 12 months) commitment. I'm not in a large metro area, so the choices are much more limiting than say Boston or NYC.

I only use Craig's List to look at funny and/or disturbing ads, thanks to Stonegold.

So that WAS you in the personals saying you were a rich mature woman doctor all alone looking for young studs to satisfy you, no strings atached (but rope is okay)?

No, I was non-pro pre-teen Asian girls looking to suck cock to make rent.

I know a married couple who met through Craig's list.

    Never looked at it myself.

Nicole and I use Craigslist all the time. We have bought and sold things: pianos, computers, furniture. And have found jobs on the site as well.

The cool thing about Craigslist is it is San Francisco Bay Area based. So when you go to http://www.craigslist.org/ you automatically get the SF page.
