Just out of curiousity, has anyone heard any of the new Discworld audiobooks? I was wondering if they were any good.

just for interest, has anyone seen the Discworld animated movies and did you like them? I saw them when they were first on TV years ago, but not since then. I was wondering if it was worth getting the DVDs.

I've seen stills from it that lead me to believe that I'd rather not. It looked a bit TOO cartoony for my tastes.

I liked the animated Soul Music though it had a hand full of odd things. (Nobby to tall. Cut-Me-Own-Throat Dibber looked odd too. etc) But it had GREAT music.

It was made by the same guys who made Danger Mouse and Count Duckula, Cosgrove Hall. It's definitly not animated like an American or Japanese cartoon, it's very british.

I picked up a copy of Guards! Guards! a few years ago. It was very well made.

What other ones are out there? Same creative team? I liked the art in Guards! Guards!

the cartoons are too cartoony and certain voices and 'looks' just didn't fit.

the audio books though, I've enjoyed listening to Hogfather, Jingo, and Thief of Time - actually liked Thief of Time in the audio version more than when I read it. We have Monstrous Regiment on the shelf but I haven't given it a listen yet.
What have I always believed? That, on the whole, and by and large, if a person lived properly, not according to what any priests said, but according to what seemed decent and honest inside, then it would, at the end, more or less, turn out ok.

At least in the comic Twoflower has glasses instead of literally "four eyes"

I think only Josh Kirby was attached to that idea. Paul Kidby's never illustrated him as anything other than a parody of the stereotypical Japanese tourist, as it should be.

Yeah. Didn't Josh Kirby start draw Twoflower with specs and two eyes after it was explained to him though?

I always like Kirby's art, and it's so completely different Kidby's. I love getting two different interpretations of the same thing.

did Josh Kirby die? They should put out an Art of Discworld book on him.

I believe he did, though I can't recall why... certainly not old age. I think there was an "Art of Josh Kirby" book which included his Discworld material.

I know he had a large fanbase that loved his interpretation of the characters, but I for one was never that fond of his Disc covers.
