Im a big fan of Spiderman but i have to say i do think Batman is better, Batman doesnt really have any powers like all the other super heroes. Batman has to use Gadgets to get were he is while spiderman has got his powers.
Batman
Spider-Man

Spider-Man owns all. Batman is cool but Spider-Man is better.
1) Bruce Wayne = Filthy rich guy with emotional problems & lotsa gadgets.
Peter Parker = Working class guy with emotional problems & spider powers.
2) Bruce Wayne/Batman, the character, is driven/aggressive/vengeful as a business man and a hero.
Peter Parker/Spider-Man, the chacracter, is guilt-ridden as a man and a hero.
3) The sacrifices made by each character are very specific to their issues. Wayne sacrifices his humanity to make crime pay for his loss, Parker sacrifices his relationships with his family/friends to maintain a promise made to his uncle. They both wear costumes that would be laughable in the real world (although they look great in print).
4) They're both neurotic is their own ways.
I suppose it comes down to who you identify with more... minus the gadgets and/or super powers. It would be interesting to read the comments made by people had Frank Miller never touched Batman. Stan Lee created Spider-Man pretty much how we read him today.
I love both characters and think they're too different to compare fairly
Tough choice, but I chose Spiderman.
Heh, sorry for pushing an old thread up
Spider-Man & Batman are both IMO underrated
SPIDER-MAN:
1. Spider-Man is his own man
2. No sidekicks
3. Not a team player, he's a solo man (until they made the mistake of placing him in the "New Avengers")
4. few gizmos, multifunctional, can use more and keep it in little space
5. Quipy
6. Doesn't need to waste fuel
7. Mean of transportation is fast & not expensive
8. Influenced a guy who really used to despise him to be a man who serves his community very well
9. Saying he's a whiner is far too abused
10. His costume covers all his features
11. Red & Blue are my two favorite colors
BATMAN:
1. Saves kids from being lost by taking care of them himself
2. Saves community by adding extra heroes
3. Does not have superhuman strength
4. I love detective stories
I prefer Spider-Man, then Hulk, Then Batman

Difficult to comment on without qualifying what is meant by "better". I prefer Spidey but Batman would be second. If you were to ask who would win in a fight, that is a different topic alltogether. Suffice to say, both are easily 2 of the most strongly developed characters in comics/modern mythology.
"What oldschool said"
The Shadow, 2008
Batman, mostly because of his costume, style, and attitude! I love how he is vigilante instead of some nerd, dressed completely in orange suit that supossed to represent Spider![]()
I made this choice on my pull list due to budget concerns and I picked Batman over Spiderman.
Squirrel Girl
I'm from middle-Europe.
This is where I get my comics from.
My experiences with comics are different than yours.
Live with it!
