i love spider-man but comon in ultimate spider-man he is just getting stared and not that good of a superhero.

1. super-strength vs above average strength
2. superhuman agility vs someone who is fast for a human being

The winner is easily ultimate spidey, especially if their is no pulling of punches on Spidey's behalf.

Joke asides (even if its the genuine truth :p) i prefer Spidey . My real and only grip with the current spidey stories , is the way he is often treated as a joke by super heroes he in fact can single handlely take down , and has already took down .
Of course its part of his persona to always doubt of himself , but he is no Blue Beetle , and shouldnt be considered a weakling by other heroes .

I dont know yet how it will work out , and still plan to buy "The Other" but i'm not thrilled by the thought of Cap giving ol' spidey martial lessons . Of course Cap is among the best of the best and one hell of a teacher , but i fail to see why spidey among all those other marvel heroes should need his training .

Anyway back to topic ... Batman and Spidey are my perfect super heroes , not too strong and still very human and down to earth , while proposing two kind of of approach , often dark and gritty for the bat , light hearted and funny for the spida . Still my preference goes to the Spidey , even if too much of a joke lately .

I like both characters but Spider-Man will always come out on top.The first comic I ever read was an issue of Amazing Spider-Man.I can't remember the actual issue# but it was the final chapter in the Bart Hamilton/Green Goblin storyline.

Spiderman for no other reason then he is the first character i ever picked up on. But Batman will always be the only real runner up in my book no other superheroes touch them at all.
