I'd rank Captain America over Wolverine. He's already had a hand full of movies and seems to popup in every marvel cartoon series they do.

True. Plus his movie is upcoming and it'll most likely be a Spider-Man 2 or X2.. and be decent.

WITHIN the MU, it would be Captain America, Reed Richards, and Iron Man.

Comic Book Fans: Captain America, Wolverine, Spider-man.

The Average Person on the Street: Spider-Man, The Hulk, Wolverine.

Well for one thing the Hulk is more reconized by the general public for his old live action tv show and for his movie. Of course after the movie his popularity dropped.

Well over time the big three have always changed.

In the Silver Age the big three were

    1.Ben Grimm (The Thing)

    2.Spider-Man

    3.Captain America

During the Bronze Age the big three were

    1.Spider-Man

2.Hulk/Thing (both were important and popular)

    3.Captain America

During the Marvel Age the big three were

    1.Spider-Man

    2.Hulk

    3.Captain America

    Currently the big three are

1.Spider-Man:Now that he is in the NA and his part in HOM he is playing very cruical roles in the MU

    2.Wolverine:Same thing as Spidey

3.Captain America:Leader of the NA and also playing a cruical role in HOM

Hulk is no where as important as he used to be, Mainly because the character still hasnt recovered from the awful writing that made him weak and cocky. Dont expect Hulk to make a comeback anytime soon

Below the current big three I would put.

4.Iron Man:Plays a big part in NA and in the MU overall as Marvel's techman

5.Mr.Fantastic:The smartest guy in marvel so obviously he has a big role

6.Prof. X: His part in HOM is bringing him back into the spotlight

    Whaaaat?

Who really remembers those Captain America movies? I also think Wolverine has appeared in more cartoons than Cap.

    Wolverine and Spider-Man
the third is tough but Captain America is my choice.

Namor, The Original Human Torch and Captain America is the big three of the old days.

I would have to say the most widely known is

    1) Spiderman
    2) Wolverine (I really hate to admit it)
    3) Hulk

going by how the question was originally asked i would say spider-man, captain america and the hulk. if i was going by sheer non comic fan recognition, i would go with spidey, hulk and wolverine.

The 3 brand names in Marvel has always been

    1) Spider-man , first and foremost

    Followed by

    The Hulk & Captain America

Wolverine shouldn't come into it , he's only active after the 70s since he was only introduced during the time , he isn't quite as iconic.

If u take a non-comic reading adult or a small child , the first marvel superhero they would think of is spider-man , followed by the hulk . Wolverine was made famous because of Hugh Jackson , before that , who knows who he is other than comic fans ?

you say if we would ask a non comicfan what three superheroes he knows he would say captain america, hulk or wolverine?i dont think so, i'm sure 90% would say superman, batman and spider-man and if we go only from marvel i'm sure the fantastic 4 or before the movies iron man are far wider known than wolverine or hulk.

Captain America isnt as Important to the rest of the world outside comics as much as Marvel wants him to be. He never has been a pop icon and probably will never be on Spider-Man's level. Hulk is well known mostly due to the popular TV show and gave us the "Dont make me angry. You're not gonna like me angry line". And Wolverine is the stand out character in a very popular group in itsself making Spider-Man, Hulk, and Wolverine Marvel's big 3, with really Spider-Man being Marvel's only real pop icon.

For pop icon super heroes there are Superman, Batman and Spider-Man. Wonder Woman is on the down slid, but a popular movie should boost her back up.

it depends on a lot of things.

for example over here in britia to the commen man and not to a comic fan i would say it was..

    spider-man , hulk and wolverine.

but only just wolverine as before the films most people here would not have a clue who he was.

but to a comic fan i would say spider-man, wolverine, daredevil
