Default MERGE: The Highly Speculative Sales Analysis Megathread

Is there anyplace on the web where you can see sales figures for the specific titles that are out there?

I was just wondering what the top and bottom selling titles are, as well as how many copies of each are sold every month, comparison between how many Marvel sells vs DC, etc.

Default Marvel Month-To-Month Numbers for July

Lots of books get a boost from House of M, while several of the new players get burned, hard. And hey, what's this new book called NYX?

And the June numbers, albeit somewhat redundant:

i am surprised retailers put that much faith into mutopia x. i think there will be a huge drop-off for the next issue.

i thought uncanny would have gone up a lot more with its house of m tie-in.

    too bad about new warriors.
    and i'm counting 1, counting 2, counting 3...

Marvel has to be satisfied with how well House of M has been selling, and how much of a boost it has given the related titles. It'll be interesting to see if some of the tie-in titles will end up raising the sales on their title.

What's particularly interesting is how writers such as Fabian, Ed Brubaker and Peter David have stated that Marvel asked if they wanted to take part in the crossover, leaving it completely in their hands. But clearly, HoM can be considered a commercial success at this point.

Marvel's gotta be hoping to boost up Spidey sales. We'll see how that works out in a few months when The Other starts.

Seeing MTU that low is sad. It's a really fun title, the kind of book I think the industry could use more of from Marvel and DC. But sales really just aren't there, which is a huge shame.

    Default Winners and Losers.....

    The Winners :

House of M: Being a comic thats selling 2 Issues a month you have to be shocked at how well its doing. Bendis sells. His name and a huge Shaping cross-over does it. Its to bad the pace is so slow you could scream.....

Ultimate Month: Ultimate Fantastic Four and Ultimates got a small boost which they needed. To bad it didn't help USM.

Uncanny X-Men: Sales were slowly going down. They were at 82,000 and thats nearly 6 thousand off Austen's last issue. This event helped jump start interest in X-Men and the slow drop off may help Ucanny. Its back at 91,000 now.

    The Losers! :

X-Men : Austen fans unite ! The run by Milligan is slowly losing readers as 9,000 have kissed the book good-bye. Will 175# give it a boost since its an anniversy number ? Or will more leave as they pretty much not like the Direction ?

Amazing Spiderman : Going......going....going down.....Since Sins Past ended its lost : 14,000 readers. That after 514# ended at 87,000

Nightcrawler: The AX has fallen it seems with issue 12. Sad to see it happened.

Slower pace means more issues, which means there is more to sell. And this story is paying off for Marvel.

Ultimate Month: Ultimate Fantastic Four and Ultimates got a small boost which they needed. To bad it didn't help USM.
I'd reckon UFF's boost was due to the new creative team more than anything.

Uncanny X-Men: Sales were slowly going down. They were at 82,000 and thats nearly 6 thousand off Austen's last issue. This event helped jump start interest in X-Men and the slow drop off may help Ucanny. Its back at 91,000 now.

Hard to say. But it is part of a crossover with Black Panther. So it's due to help that book, at least.

Amazing Spiderman : Going......going....going down.....Since Sins Past ended its lost : 14,000 readers. That after 514# ended at 87,000
Think Amazing is bad? Look at MK Spider-Man. It's barely over 50k at this point. Amazing's sales are dropping much more gently at this point than MK.

Of course, this is all moot because The Other starts soon. Marvel's gotta be hoping that title picks up steam for Spidey sales.

I say wait and see what the orders on Giant Sized X-Men #4 was...

Maybe comic stores have seen alot of people want the 8page story but don't care about the reprints so they read them in store. I heard tons of people saying they did that.

If Giant Sized X-Men #4 does the same it could be perfectly respectable for this type of book... which was cheap to produce.

Poor Marvel Team Up. It rules so much!

Yep. That was strange. It was Bendis.
Okay GSX had Whedon and Adams, that's a total different league, but still.

The sales for Gravity and New Warriors (two of the best limited series to come out this year) are just depressing. :(

    Ínteresting.

I do wonder if the Black Panther comparison with the series of two years back is worth anything; the two series are so completely different otherwise.

    Shanna, the She-Devil
"Holding up fairly well for a miniseries about such a C-list character."

    Geez, I wOOnder why?

Exiles, moving up? That's suprising. I see the strong increase with the Timebroker/Timebreaker story which makes sense as it was building up to that for ages. I know I'll be back on the title with the Longshot story.

Good to see Runaways doing well.

Marvel Team-up: Well, history has shown that books with a changing cast are often unstable in sales.

Too bad to see Spider-Man/Human Torch do so badly. It was one of the best miniseries of the year. Same for Livewires.

NYX: Divorced from time and space I have to remember that line.

    Onwards to July

Uncanny doing well, giving me good hopes for New Excalibur. ANd there are still people in this day and age who buy both variant covers?

Ultimate X-men: suprising. Though it could be the variant cover. It also could be. It also could be the Polaris/Magneto storyline.

Mutopia X: Yikes... despite my dislike of crossovers, I can see why Marvel is doing them.

Weapon X: The "Days of Future Now" subtitle may be a factor as well.

I wanted to see Hellions do better as well. Still normal for a limited series. See also Gravity.

This guy's anti-Marvel bias makes reading this kinda tedious.
