    2) Laguna vs Zack

    3) Sephiroth and jenova vs Ultimecia and Edea

    4) Seifer, Raijin, and Fuijin vs the TURKS

1: I ain't touching that subject. Both teams have uber stuff.

2: Laguna.. As Zack died via normal troops killng him. Laguna was a guy, who survvied til point the FF8 crew met him.

3: Sephiroth and Jenova screw with a pyscho's mind, and needed a plot device to be threat to whole world. Ultimecia was a threat to time/space itself! and Edena actualy did her Limit Break outside of combat (Ice spearing Squall.)

4: Seifer was the only one who was a threat.. All the Turks were cool. And Porfessionals. So leaning toward them.

5: FF7 Biggs and Wedg enever foguht did they? Wel FF8 ones defat them on sheer princple that they can fight.

I despise FF VII, and I'm not too fond of VIII either (though it had a couple of things I liked), but I'll try to be objec- GIVE ME MY BOSS EXPERIENCE YOU STINGY BASTARDS! I'LL KILL YOU, SQUARE! YOU HEAR ME!? I'M COMING FOR YOU!

Laguna vs Zack - Probably Zack. The game's dialogue made it seem like Laguna was just a soldier without Squall's group. Zack is a member of a pretty elite force, so he's probably going to take it here. Normal soldiers killed Zack, but he wasn't really in a position to fight back(carrying Cloud, on the run, just got out of a couple year stay in a tube), and he was probably just overwhelmed.

Sephiroth and jenova vs Ultimecia and Edea - Ultimecia seemed more powerful overall, so I'll give it to their team. I haven't played VIII in a long time though, so I don't really remember how powerful Ultimecia was.

Seifer, Raijin, and Fuijin vs the TURKS - Seifer cut Odin in half, ODIN. No Turk is that tough.

    1. FF7 team takes it. Vincent Snipes, Cloud takes down Squal, and Tifa can just bitch-slap Quistis and Rinoa like nobody's buisiness.

    2. Give it to Zack. He's a 1st class Soldier, and wasn't gunned down by normal soldiers. Not to mention that he died after 1. Fighting sephiroth and 2. being experimented on by Hojo.

    3. Ultimecia wasn't screwing with time/space on her own power, she was taking the powers of other sorceresses from across time in order to do all that she could, so she had a major plot device going for her. Sephiroth with no plot device was still quite capable of flight, teleportation, manipulating failed clones, killing shinra soldiers, using powerful magic, and generaly dominating every damn thing that came across his path.

    4. Turks. Turks included Reno, Rude, Elena, and Tsang. Could include Vincent on their rosters as well since he's former-Turk.

    5. stale-mate. I hated them all.

Yeah, he was killed by soldiers. It was a low end showing but it still happened. And FF7's Biggs and Wedge were resistence fighters. They died in battle.

    1. I'll say the Seven crew wins, as Cloud and Vincent have powers. Barret has a feat. Tifa has hyperbole, which is bad but hey, it's something. Also, Cloud's got more hands-on experience compared to Squall's training. Then again, the leadership sucked, so that's one strike against them.

    2. Zack seems more hardcore. He fights with a big sword in an elite paramilitary organization. Of course, if Laguna had prep, he'd pull off something like he did against Adell.

    3. Not touching this one, as I'm still not sure of what either is truly capable of.

    4. The Disciplinary Crew. Seifer killed his universe's version of Odin, who while weaker than other universe's versions, is still pretty powerful. I'd venture more powerful than even the Turks.

    5. Biggs and Wedge. :D Seriously, 7's. 8's were a joke.

Well Seifers little deal against Odin was pure fluff considering that Odin only works against non-boss characters with his Zantetsuken, which is an instant-death move. Since insta-death doesn't work on Bosses, it's quite obvious that Odin would be stopped since Seifer is a boss character. Gilgamesh takes his place and works on all types because he's not restricted to just sudden-death moves.

True, besides, Seifer seemed to be more or less an even macth with Squall and there's no way Squall would take the guy down in one shot.

    Not even with the anti-Zantetsuken?

I think the kanji read "Steel Sword Cut Reverse."

Especialy since to get Odin as a GF, you have to fight him and all he does for 10min is sit there and let the group beat on him.

I thought we weren't using game mechanics?

Seifer killing Odin was both game mechanics and crappily plot-induced.

So it doesn't count because it's what happens in the game and the story?

    Then what do we count?

    1) I give it to SEVEN, for 2 reasons. the first being 7 has more playable characters, and 2 that Cloud and Vincent have powers.

    2) Zack, again he has the Mako enhancements.

    3) Jenova get whipped out, it's pretty useless. And Edea was never that powerful eitehr, I give it down to between Seph and Ulti. And based on some of her powers I'll give it to Ultimecia, her magic were above Spehiroth limted skills.

    4) Turks, Far wider Range of skills and Magics.

    5) 8 Biggs and Wedge, they were trained Soldiers after all.

Zack's body didn't react to the Jenova cells.

Maybe they did or maybe they didn't but he was still a SOLDIER. Those are give then FF7 equivalent of the Super Soldier project.
