User name changes thread (please read rules first) Rules updated 02/08/11

Now and then, a user wishes to have his or her User/account name changed. This is fine.
The purpose of this thread is for those that want their username's changed to post here with their request - it's just a lot more organised than Private Messages.

Please note, however, that the current Forums Guidelines on this matter are still in effect. For those that need a reminder;

we will only change your handle for you if it's from a handle to a real name or at least something that resembles a real name. Why? Because we like seeing real names on our forums. Handles are fun for a time, but sometime's it just hard to respond to someone or take someone seriously who has a handle like "Comic Boy Man From Mars." We encourage the use of real names.

The chances of getting a Handle changed unless it is to a real name is pretty slim, so please do not request it unless there are some unique circumstances involved.

The following formats are the standard name changes;
First name (don't be surprised if name is already taken though).
First name, last name.
First initial, last name.
First name, last initial.
Other combinations/arrangements may be fine, on a case by case basis.

07/04/11 New Policy
Everyone is permitted one gratuitous name change to whatever you want (pending admin approval). After that, it's your real name or bust. If you wish to speed up the process, acknowledge that you're aware that your request will use up your one free name change in your post.

I was wondering if during the week of Halloween, would it be possible for posters to change their names temporarily?
Or would that be too much of a hassle if like hundereds of people wanted to change.

I might be willing to do it for a few people who are of good regard but hundreds? I definitely don't have that much time to spare, sorry. Remember, I don't get paid to do this stuff and I do have a life going on somewhere in the background. ;)

After a lot of careful thought, I decided that I would like to change my user name from "Miko-Chan" to "Tami". I don't think that "Tami" is being used by anyone else. Thanks.

Of course we don't know, but frankly I take a conversation with a guy named "John Smith" a bit more seriously than a guy named "BigComicFanFromMontanaMan." Of course, in time, reading posts from BigComicFanFromMontanaMan and seeing he's an intelligent poster, I'll take him seriously, but my first impression won't generally be to take him too seriously. Not with a name like "BigComicFanFromMontanaMan," not that I take most people seriously from Montana (to all our readers from Montana out there, I'M JOKING!).

Am I being ignored? When I asked to have my user name changed to my real name, Tami, I didn't even get an explanation as to why not.
