    Default The end of Inuyasha

I'm a fan of the series, it's just kind of a popcorn type series.

Fun to watch all the fighting, and action.

However I heard it's ending sometime soon, does anyone know the ending? More often then not I'm going to be out and about on a Saturday night so I rarely get to catch it anymore, and from what I saw last night (a Tuesday) the series is back to the begining.

Anyone care to help me out?

IIRC the manga isn't done yet. The "ending" will more than likely be ended with a movie or something similar.

    Say what?

Anywho, I watched it sparingly. It is somewhat interesting but not interesting me enough to get the manga or anime.

Btw, is the translated manga that is still going on or the japanese original manga still going?

The series ended at 167 and there are, so far at least, 3 movies. It ended in Japan well over a year ago. The manga is still running though.

While I think it started out fine, like most Rumiko Takahashi series, it goes on far too long. Like most series that go on and on and on due to popularity (Naruto and One Piece also come to mind), after a while... who cares? How many times do we have to go through the "excuse #13435 why we can't get this shard of the Shikon jewel" nonsense?

I much prefer series that are scripted, from the beginning, for a finite number of episodes. They tell a single story and they're over. Move on to the next thing.

I doubt we've seen half that many episodes here in the US (assuming they keep bringing them over and translating them). So for all practical purposes, it is not ending any time soon.

The Adult Swin Saturday night episodes are new(er) and run in their own sequence separate from the ones that run weeknights.

Also, I basically agree with the post that got in just above mine. The newer episodes aren't generally raising the quality bar at this point in my opinion. Plus they are stretching these less compelling tales over more and more episodes as we go.

167 episodes of anime, 4 movies to date and a manga that is supposed to end around 500.

Once the manga ends, if Inuyasha were to be continued, there would be a decent amount of material to make new shows with.

The anime ending was very open. Naraku isn't killed and very few questions are answered. Plus if you compare where the anime ended and look at the manga, you'll see certain characters were never introduced and certain events never mentioned.

The TV series ends after a story from vol. 36 of the manga. Takahashi is just about to start vol. 42 is a few weeks.

The current story revolves around the battle against Mouryoumaru, who was introduced toward the end of the TV series.

The translated manga that Viz releases is not worth collecting.

Yeah, but there is an online database at one of the translation pages where you can read all of the chapters from chapter 1 all the way to the present. They update slower than Ear Tweak and don't have scanlations, but they keep every chapter there.

Yup. I use that. And Ear Tweak. And I buy the Japanese volumes. :)

The current Shichinintai (Band of Seven) arc that Adult Swim is showing certainly seems a lot better than the twenty eps of Filler Hell we had to deal with after the Naraku disappearance so far, and from what I hear it's supposed to have some of the best eps in the series...

Just a FYI, the latest ep that aired on [AS] was Ep 108 "The Secret of the Pure Light" so there are 59 ep left to air in the U.S.

Well, the actual last story from the manga was the weird monkey god. Everything after that was added for the anime. Those were some bad filler.

After the Mt. Hakurei arc, we have only a few painful filler episodes, followed by an important Miroku story, a kickass Sesshoumaru filler, some more decent filler episodes, and finally the Hakudoushi arc, which represents the best that the series has to offer.

The Hakudoushi arc was my favorite arc of the manga.

I'm actually digging the Mouryoumaru arc that's in the Manga right now. The Shichinintai arc was my second favorite. Hakudoushi was badass, but my favorite part of that whole "Naraku's back" storyarc was the return to the graveyard.
