    My blog.

We struggled against apartheid in South Africa, supported by people the world over, because black people were being blamed and made to suffer for something we could do nothing about; our very skins. It is the same with sexual orientation. It is a given.

I believe there's a thread on the Music board all about this topic, do a search it's pretty involved.

    Ben Folds
    Oasis
    Remy Zero

And otherwise lots of smaller acts. Friends with bands. Incidental stuff.

Jimmy Buffet performed at my mom's college cafeteria.

I really don't get most people's obsession with rock music though.

I'd probably be more into music if big band was a major cultural phenomena again but I really think I'm one of the few people who wouldn't be crushed if there was never another concert or new album release again. I mean, yeah, I'll groove along to the radio on road trips... But I really don't give a rip what the name of the drummer for some metal band is.

Really, the energy that most people expend on sports and music must be attuned to comics for me.

Ok, before I can answer this, I have to ask, would you differientiate between a "concert" (large venue, mainstream artist/band) and a "show" (lesser known artists/underground/punk, etc)? Is there really a difference between the two in your eyes?

I saw Stephen Lynch at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium last fall. Does that count?

That is where I saw them too, at a HORDE festival.

Best performance I have seen, however, is Peter Gabriel. Very theatrical.

At the end of one of his concerts, he got a large suitcase and put it on the stage...apparently over a trap door. One by one his band stood in the open suit case and were lowered into it. Then after the drummer (last one) stepped into the the suitcase, Peter Gabriel just closed the suitcase, picked it up, waved goodbye to the audience and left the stage.

    I've seen:

    Bruse Springsteen
    Steve Miller
    Jimmy Buffett
    George Thoroughgood
    Eric Clapton
    the Kinks

and I saw Warren Zevon at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park. very cool show, intimate setting.

I'm supposed to go to the Warp Tour with my brothers this summer, but that will be my first non white-bread rock n roll concert.
