Default Games you "should" enjoy but didn't.

What are somepopular games that you've played, that have gotten Rave reviews and that everybody says is "awesome", and that you might actually like in concept, but when it comes to actually playing it you either find incredibly frustrating and not-fun, or simply boring and unnappealing?

Likewise, on the other side of the coin, what are some either obscure or supposedly "bad" games that most people think suck, which you enjoyed?

    My list: (partial, not exhaustive)

    Games I "should" have enjoyed:

    Halo
    Halo 2
    Final Fantasy 3, 7, X.
    Every Zelda title ever.
    Warcraft III
    Morrowind
    Every Metal Gear game ever.
    Every Splinter Cell game.
Every Mario game ever, except for Paper Mario.

Games I "should" have hated, but liked:

    Primal
    Kya: Dark Lineage
    Summoner 2
    Throne of Darkness
    Sudeki
    Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance
    Killer Instinct

Silent Hill 2: after all the rave reviews I was really disappointed by the game.

edit: Doom 3: good call Wolf-Man: too short and gameplay wise not that interesting.

Half-Life 2. I know... but all the supposed 'revolutionary' crap was nothing but a bit prettier. It just got boring at the end.

Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault- I really, really liked Allied Assault. This one was purported to be one of the best supported games ever. The developers lied to the community and bailed as soon as it was released. A buggy, shoddy game with no patch still, months after release.

Doom3- Great atmosphere... for the most part. And then it got boring. Same old stuff. Monster jumps out, shoot it. Monster jumps out, shoot it. Meh. Such potential wasted.
I hate anime. Yes, even that one.

On my list are Halo - it's a good gma ebut nothing like people claimed, for me anyway.

Most and nearly all Resisdent Evil style shooters (that includes Dino Crisis and Silent Hill series), I did not like any of them. it was the gaming style of it. It just put me off.

I'll agree with everyone on Halo. A good game, but not the life changing experiance all the magazines said it should be. Me, I prefer shooting Nazi's to aliens, so for me, Call of Duty beat it hands down.

I am a little disapointed with Resident Evil 4. I don't hate it, but I am one of the few people who prefered the older camera angles, and control method.

I'm gonna get shouted out for this one, but I've never really got on with Octarina of Time. I didn't play it when it first came out, and I only got a copy with Wind Waker, but I much prefered Wind Waker, and I haven't really enjoyed Octarina all that much. Maybe I had to be there when it first came out.

Never got on with the Marioland games either. Poor mans Manic Miner as far as I could see.

Final Fantasy X was like pulling teeth. Final Fantasy VII was sheer bliss. What a difference between, what is essentially, the same game.

I was told I'd hate Star Trek: Birth of the Federation, but I still play it till this day.
    Ditto with Historyline 1914 - 1918.

Not so much a case of a game sucking, but more a whole genre, but I play retro games more than new releases, and love every minute of it.

I'm having alot of trouble getting into KotOR. Everyone says "it's amazing!", and I just can't get motivated to pick it back up.

I thought Primal got fairly good ratings.

Anyhoo, the only game I "should've liked but didn't" is probably, again, Halo.

well, I can't come up with anything myself. I've seen some games that maybe weren't quite as good as I heard they'd be, but that's nothing.

    star wars battlefront.

wanted to enjoy it.. loved the demo.. but the game was lacking... i dunno.. i guess the whole shooting ewok factor isn't all that great... they needed more gungans to kill.
