Default Sign the Watchmen 3 Hour Running Time Petition

Sorry if this was posted already, but we're trying really hard to keep the ball rolling.

Anyone who has been following the news about the upcoming Watchmen movie may have heard Zack Snyder explain in some recent interviews that WB is pushing him to cut down his 3 hour cut of the film more and more. Fans of the graphic novel appreciate what Zack has done so far and understand how faithful he's trying to be to this epic comic series. Help support his vision by signing this petition.

And if you really believe in the cause, help spread the word.

So far we have over 2,800 signatures.

    Thanks.

having not actually seen his three-hour cut of the movie, why should anyone automatically assume it would be better than a 2 hour, 20 minute cut?

Seeing how popular extended editions are you will probably see this cut on video.

Wow, that many people seriously think online petitions ever actually get anything accomplished?

If you read what I've posted, the petition is not to force an arbitrary 3 hour cut of the film for time's sake.

Zack Snyder has mentioned time and again that his 3 hour cut was being whittled down by the studio because for whatever reason, they think shorter films are better.

The list of 3 hour plus runtime films that are epic in their own right (LOTR, Godfather II, etc.) proved if a film is good, it can be long.

Do we think our petition will be rushed into some WB execs office where he will bow down to our demands? No. We're are not that naive.

But if a fan outrcry helps in any way to keep a few minutes of Snyder's vision in the final cut of the film, we will consider our efforts a success.

Even if the 3 hour cut is over-long, bloated, and padded? Longer isn't necessarily better, and often a director's unedited "vision" isn't something that begs to be seen. If you watch the deleted scenes extras on a DVD, quite often it turns out they were deleted for a good reason.

There may be a reason (other than jamming more showings into a day) why they are asking for the film to be cut down. That being said, while longer is not always better, it isn't always bad either. I enjoyed the expanded LOTR Return of the King more than the theater cut.

But the thing about that is, it's not going to have any effect at all.

That door swings both ways. The hue and cry over Snyder being "forced" to cut down the film is shouting into a vacuum, because know one knows how good or bad the longer edition is versus the shorter one, so assuming that the shorter one is work of pernicious evil forced upon him by the studio (which seems to be the underlying assumption behind the petition) is jumping the gun. It's a petition demanding to fix something that no one actually knows is broken.

That's what DVD special editions are for.

Is this going to be Rated R?
Dean: So, what do we do now?
Castiel: I suggest we imbibe copious quantities of alcohol... just wait for the inevitable blast wave.

Watchmen Film Imperiled by WB/Fox Legal Battle

A judge has denied a Warner Bros. motion to dismiss 20th Century Fox's lawsuit for an injunction against Zack Snyder's "Watchmen," with Fox claiming exclusive rights to produce and distribute a film based on the graphic novel.

Why couldn't they do this whole lawsuit thing at the start of the entire production... I can see it getting delayed until '10 now... Shit!

Becuase they wanted to wait until fans got excited about it and then jump out of nowhere looking for their money like a bunch of a dickheads.

    Thats why.
I'm beginning to think that Hell is a comic book forum.
